Iron Maiden - Senjutsu

What we thinking to it?

I'm enjoying it more with every listen, definitely a grower and good to see they're still at the top of their game and streets ahead of most (charts) bands even in their 60s. Up the Irons 😈

Hello Scuba, hope you're doing OK.

I've listened to it right through once, sounds like more of Book of Souls, which I though was good, but they've drawn out the length of some of the tracks too much again, makes the album too long to listen to properly. The good news as with Book of Souls is that Bruce Dickinson has lost his voice a bit compared to his "air raid siren" peak, I prefer it now, couldn't stand it when he first joined Maiden.

Going to give it some more listens for sure.

Totally agree, even though I've never been their biggest fan.

Being the only person in the world who still buys CDs (I know, I know, I’ll get Spotify one day). I agree it’s a grower but I couldn’t name any track except the writing on the wall single because they aren’t listed on the box art! Minor annoyance I agree, but still.

I've listened though it twice and it's getting better with each listen. Will probably give it another go this week. Am really into Maiden again at the moment, especially as my 13 year old discovered them recently and has been drumming along to some of their classics (no input from me) - He also discovered Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera and a few others. My in-car playlists have clearly worked their magic.

I still buy CDs TS. But a large percentage of them are via crowd funding, pre order, bands merch stands or from them direct.
I have not heard Senjutsu yet but must get round to it. Liked Book of Souls.
Hope your ok Scuba

I've never really rated Bruce's voice as much as a lot of Maiden fans do, I tend to enjoy their music despite his vocals rather than because of them. He seems like a great bloke and obviously has a good set of pipes on him, I just can't get that excited about his singing unfortunately. He's definitely the best out of the three singers they've had though IMO.

I like to have something to hold, if I’m buying it. Does that make sense?

I went to see LUMP last week and they were superb. Oddly I thought Laura Marling's voice a little too perfect and found myself wishing she'd channel Bruce Dickinson or Britney Spears to somehow make the songs more immediate rather than how I imagine a song by Virginia Woolf would feel. Kind of telling me about the emotion/story rather than illustrating the emotion/story and how good it is. If that makes sense.
