Irish bar, just off the main square....watching the game in Hamburg

I suspect I've already stumbled upon the answer, but anyone know any decent places to watch the game in Hamburg? Stupidly booked a mates weekend away months ago, without thinking about the play offs.

I'm also probably in Bucharest for the the second leg (bloody work trip) and so any tips on where would be showing it there also gladly received.

I never get why anyone would want to go to an Irish Bar when abroad but I understand why you would attend this one.
I depends on the bar really. Sometimes they are a good place to sample local beers without necessarily needing to order food. I was in one in Saarbrücken last week where they had a range of local beers and were connected with the beer shop next door. A few weeks ago in Meppen it was the only option.

Same here - on holiday in Nerja Spain - will find a bar to watch the 2 games - happy memories of going here on holiday and watching Jan Aage Fjortoft scoring the winning goal many years ago !!!

I like watching the locals and find you see more sitting in a local bar or coffee shop. Irish bars tend to be full of tourists.

I'm not looking for an Irish bar, I'm looking for somewhere to watch the match - the subject title was a joke. Perhaps your cultural snobbery may be better on another thread, as whether people wish to go to an Irish bar when on holiday is sort of irrelevant to this thread.

Has the advent of contactless payments made cash point queries redundant?
Depends where you go, I suppose. Pre-Covid in Germany you almost always needed cash. I found that when I went back last autumn you were always offered card payment but when I've been recently they have often reverted to expecting cash though card remains available if you ask for it.

I realised after posting the second reply that the Irish bar was the in house joke part, my bag. Cultural snobbery? Now I've never been accused of that before. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I can't imagine you being a cultural snob either Norman 🤣🤣👍
The_Lizards put down made my day and I'm going to smile at my cultural snobbery whilst emulsioning my son's bathroom ceiling.

I wonder if I should be listening to a bit of Wagner instead of the Chilli Peppers whilst painting. 🤣 🤣 🤣

The Ride of The Valkyries should do it.

I'd rather listen to white noise than the RHCP.
Is that a bit of cultural snobbery!! 🤣🤣🤣

When you are decorating you need something lively on to keep you going and RHCP fit that bill but that was yesterday’s music and I’ve decided to have a change today. Today it is Springsteen’s greatest hits album (just finishing) and next I will move on to a bit of Squeeze.

Wagner and Mozart are a little difficult to sing along to. 🤣🤣
