So lets do that:
Those saying it works are people who hung their hat on it early doors as a way out of a medical situation which they had largely denied/ignored. In contradiction of all subsequent evidence they have carried on digging themselves into a big hole. Why are they saying it? Because said situation threatens their chances of re-election due mostly to their own incompetence and they can't be seen to back track.
Those saying it doesn't work are genuine medical people who tested it in a desperate search for a drug that might help people who were seriously ill. Why are they saying it? BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FECKING WORK!

To Trump it doesn't matter if it works or not. It is the fact that he picked up on it at a time when his abdication of a national leadership role was leading America down the path to the crisis they are in now. All he wants is some evidence that it can help some people so that he can brag about it and undo all the damage he's done to his re-election prospects.
He is terrified of losing, not because it'll be a national snub to him personally, but also because he knows that he'll spend the rest of his life being investigated by all of the institutions he's tried to dismantle.
All of the divisions in the US society have been engineered by him to try and fracture the vote and to try and introduce Trump as an authoritarian leader by the back door. Just look at the actions of Bill Barr in regards to doing Trump's bidding, he's like a bonsai secret police department and if left to another term then it's only get worse.
Trump may be a figure of fun, but he is the most dangerous person in the western world because if he was to get a second term then his push towards an authoritarian state could reshape the US forever.
If Americans value their constitution and believe in the words of their anthem then they need to run Trump and his ideas out of town regardless of how good a candidate Biden is.

To me thought it looks like the doctor has a bee in his bonnet by being constrained by regulation
