Interesting read about the Russia Report- No wonder Johnson didn't want to publish it

There must be some political dynamite in it or it would have been released by now, it's been over 9 months with Cummings-Johnson and delayed for bulls hit reasons. We know a bit about the millions of £ donated to the Tories by Russian oligarchs resident in UK and Johnson's visits to Italy for what were definitely not bunga bunga parties.

And no one has mentioned that the security and intelligence sub committee is the only committe not reformed after the last election. The very committee that is responsible for releasing the report. This is the committee that oversees our security services, believe it or not.

There is not a shadow of a doubt that there is some very damning stuff in the report

We'll soon find out.

"The Intelligence and Security committee has unanimously agreed this morning that it will publish the Report on Russia prepared by its predecessor before the house rises for the summer recess. There will be no further comment."

I think the Russian thing runs very deep and their desire to weaken and debase the EU has taken many forms, we have a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, who lived in Russia for over three years running an airline that made no money, a job arranged by his mentor Norman Stone, a man arrested in the 60’s for smuggling dissidents from the Eastern Bloc into the West, Cummings didn’t speak Russian and had graduated from Oxford with a degree in History, he returned to the U.K. where Stone again set him up with a job as campaign director for an anti EU pressure group.

It might be coincidence that Cummings was in Russia at the time the oligarchs were taking control of that country, and those same oligarchs funded, in part, the Brexit campaign and have contributed donations to the Conservative Party and to meet Boris Johnson, that concerns over Cummings security clearance are simple conjecture, that the hold Cummings has over the Prime Minister is purely professional, there’s no smoking gun that would end Johnson’s political career and that there is no influence on British political system from Russia.

Hopefully the report will provide clarity and if there is any wrongdoing those involved face the consequences.

A.M. I suspect there is suscpicion over what the report claims because Johnson seems to have been hell bent on stopping its publication. Consider the following:

Johnson refused to publish the report pre-election.
When the various select committee's were reformed after the general election the Intelligence and Security committee was the last to be formed.
He tried to politicise the chairman by appointing one of his own, this is unprecedented, as far as i can tell.

I can see why people think there is something quite damming in the report. Also, don't forget MI5 didn't want to give Johnson security clearance when he was Foreign Secretary as they saw him as a security risk.

As you say, the report will put these musings to bed, one way or another.

The government now trying to get ahead of the release and control the narrative with an admission that Russia tried to influence the election.

I've no doubt Russia tries to influence UK, US and other democracies' politics, but I'm dubious about how successful they are. Saudi Arabia has greater success IMHO.

That would be a very interesting move.
Certainly find out what Sir Limply Doyle is actually made of. Being it's a Parliamentary, not a Government committee.
