According to Teamtalk. 18 year old striker( his old man is Rory) apparently there’s 5-6 Championship clubs interested in taking him on loan. Same age as Coburn.

I don't mind taking Prem players on loan, particularly if they are quality and can help fill some problematic gaps in the squad. To cover for positions where perhaps we aren't blessed or where we have youngsters who play there, but they might not be ready/too raw for promoting to the first team squad at this moment.

However, I'm not so keen if we have promising academy lads who play in the exact same position around the fringes of the first team and we pass them over to bring in a Prem loanee. If that's the scenario I'd rather give our own players the development time and not help out other clubs by developing their talent for them.

Second this, I don't mind us getting the likes of Roberts in who had experience at championship level and in the SPL but I think this lad has pretty much the same level of experience as some of our young lads who Warnock thinks need to go out on loan to develop further.

I'd be surprised if there is anything in this to be honest and also disappointed if there is.

I think anyone we bring in will be at a higher level than our lads, maybe even with an option to buy. a lot of the younger lads at the top clubs are missing out due to their clubs not wanting them playing for anyone else.
loan with an option to buy and a massive sell on %age (plus an option to buy back) seems like the best way to let these lads mature and get the game time they need. far too much talent being stifled in the academy leagues.

The kid is tipped for the top, he'll do alright wherever he goes. Although I would like to see Coburn given games here before a prem teenager.

Might both end up in the first team quad next season?

Diedhiou/Coburn
Akpom/ Delap

I don't disagree but city don't give their youngsters away for peanuts, any option to buy will be massively out of our price range. Also given some city youngsters we've had over the years I wouldn't be wanting us to get into any agreement to buy deals as they've generally turned out to be awful players.

Bamford is the one loan striker that has really worked out but he'd already shown in league 1 and in the championship he was able to cut it. From what I can tell this lad at city hasn't got any of that experience - he might turn out to be mustard but I'd rather just gamble on our own youngsters and save a bit of cash than take a risk on a city lad with the same level of experience and have to pay for the pleasure.

I think the idea would be not to gamble on our youngsters.. loan them out and get much needed experience. If Delap is at a slightly higher level than Coburn than perhaps it would make sense.

An option to buy is always just that.. there might not be anything in it.. it might be plans for next season are to include Coburn AND Delap.

Lets just wait and see hey

Have we had any REAL successful man City loanees? Nmecha, Roberts, Harrison...that lad nimely spring to mind..rather we played our own prospects first and if they deemed not good enough. Try this as plan B

I mean.. just because those guys didn't work out doesn't mean that ALL Man City players are off the table forever

I understand the argument about developing our own youngsters 'first', but I also want to see us do as well as possible. Although Coburn and Delap are both the same age, Delap has been training with world class players regularly, been around their squad/bench regularly, and arguably will have developed at a faster rate than Coburn. He might actually be naturally better, who knows.

Trust Warnock to get it right, whatever he does (y)

he isn't Alex Nimely, he's Liam Delap.
Nimley was amazing on football manager. I was genuinely buzzing when we signed him. Christ he was bad 😒

I'm not sure about teenage forwards coming from prem academy's. It's a massive leap for a 18-19 year old to go from U23s where they don't get tackled to playing 30+ games sat - Tues - sat in the champo.

I can't think of many teenage academy forwards ripping up the champo? The odd one like Bamford / Abraham. Although Bamford actually came from the championship.

Rhian Brewster got 10 goals in 19 games for Swansea last year. The lad at Barnsley came from america at 20 and ripped it up. Wilson was about 19 at Hull and then Derby. Mount about 19

There are plenty at about 19/20 but younger than that it's tough to get straight into mens footy, that 1 extra year of pro training seems to strengthen them up
