Insomnia

Warm bath before bed.
Cold bedroom.
Read a chapter or 2 of a book before going to sleep.

I've also tried probiotics before bed with some success.

Was still awake at fooking 6am this morning šŸ¤¬

Anyone got any tips?
I suffer the same. Iā€™ve done a lot of study and Iā€™m convinced itā€™s because of too much cortisol in the blood (stress hormone). The triggering of sleep hormone melatonin is what we need to counteract cortisol. I take 300mg of magnesium glycinate after my evening meal, it relaxes you. A table of peanut butter (tryptophan makes melatonin). You can hack the rest and digest parasympathetic nervous system by deep nose breathing as well.

I also take a 500mg of L-Tryptophan before bed. Itā€™s an amino acid that produces serotonin. Donā€™t take it with food as it competes with other amino acids in a protein meal.

Do you remember feeling sleepy in front of a campfire and getting a glorious sleep? That triggers melatonin naturally. Insomnia is an epidemic as weā€™ve technology gone too fast forward as a species and donā€™t get the sunrise/sunset like our ancestors. Good luck šŸ¤ž

Sleep hypnosis audio tracks are very good also. That famous hypnotist(who's name I can't remember šŸ˜‚ Paul Mcsomething) has a very good one called 'sleep like a log', you can watch it on YouTube but it's better with headphones.

From my experience of insomnia the best cure without a doubt is to lean to meditate. I practice Vipassana meditation for about half an hour in the morning and before bed and I'm always asleep within minutes.
You can learn how to clear your restless mind of thoughts and the anxiety that causes insomnia, including thoughts of not being able to get to sleep. It really is worth investing time and effort in meditating. It's free and the technique itself, once mastered, is as good as sleep while you are doing it. You can learn by yourself but I recommend doing a 10 day course. Its a 10 day meditation boot camp, free of charge, but you'll never regret it.

Sometimes insomnia is exacerbated by worrying about not sleeping. Remember that the body gets 90% of ā€œsleep restā€ just by lying quietly in the dark, even if awake.

Another technique, employed by marines and dogs..
Slowly flex and then relax all your muscle groups, starting with your calves and working upwards.
Repeat if necessary.
