India v England - 1st Test

Been plenty of ups and downs already; entertaining test cricket. If they can somehow get 250 I'd say they're possibly slightly over par for the conditions.
 
Must admit I was surprised to read that the avg first innings score is just over 400!

Small sample size (5 tests) but I reckon different pitch prep for this game?

Stokes doing his usual captain fantastic bit at the moment but reckon we'll probably end 50-70 short.
 
All to play for. Ahmed might struggle as a leg spinner, but Leach, Dawson and Root will fancy their chances on this pitch.

Hope so but tbh non of them are in the same league as the Indian spinners.
That wicket turned wicked for the first day.
If the rest of the pitches are like that expect very short test matches.
Not good for the game.
 
I just cannot see us bowling them out for anything less than 350.

Ooooh, there goes another six.

Only got the text commentary on. Are they actively targeting Hartley or is he just bowling pies?

India can prepare pitches how they like and to suit their players, it's always been like that and England do the same when they play over here. To suggest it's not good for the game is folly....You mean its not good for England ?

Since 2013, India have won 36 home tests, losing just 3 (winning 16 consecutive home series) and 6 draws. It isn't great for the game if India just annihilate everyone inside 3 days when they're at home. Its not just affecting England.

Not preparing pitches to suit your bowlers, no, thats fine and has been going on since the forever.
Test matches finishing inside two days is not, IMO, good for the game.

Poor but looks extremely nervous. Stokes should have protected him and taken him out of the attack earlier.
