Independent Venue Week

Will you take in a gig this week to support Independent Venue Week?
The venues as well as the bands are feeling the pinch at the moment - I know the same obviously applies to the audience too. But spiraling costs are really taking their toll on the hospitality sector and our live music venues already under real strain are disappearing all over the country. On a happier note we have some great gigs this week. In the Tees area you can pick and choose between some superb touring and local acts.
Have a look at this list we compiled last week.

IVW means Independent Venue Week.

Russ Tippins Band @ The Quakerhouse in Darlo, 9pm on the 3rd. Tom Atkinson solo @ 6.30 pm on the 4th. Both free, but please put money over the bar. They have to pay for the acts.

Great gig last night at the Forum, Darlington hosted by Tracks Collective.
The superb Mouses headlined and ably backed up by N E speed punks Irked (featuring Helen on vocals from Billingham) and also the amazingly bouncy and charismatic teenage band, Maeve and the Trains.

Several great shows tonight locally - See above.
Rev and The Makers DJ set at NE Volume Music Bar; Komparrison at the Ku Bar; Richard Dawson at the Georgian Theatre and up the A19 at Peterlee Industrial Coast hits an empty shop with Richie Culver - more details about that here..

Another tremendous night at Ku Bar - Komparrison as always putting on a top show. Great supports Jam Tub and Lost in Translation really promising young bands.
Lots of people there again. And big nights elsewhere in town.

Went to Independent in Sunderland last night to see Ist Ist play. Brilliant as always and ably supported by a band new to me Midnight Gallery.
