In the 70's/80's when you didn't fancy, or want a Parmo, what did you have?

Thinking back to the age of Steve's Rendezvous, Bibi's, The Europa, El Grco's etc.

Such delicacies on offer were:
Escalope Zacheroff
Chicken Pilaf
Moussaka
Chicken A La King
Chicken Maryland

It seemed that all the menus were pretty much the same.
Was extremely partial to a Moussaka...which was basically mince and onions with a parmo topping.;)

YK Chows. (curried scallops and chips)

Parmosans did exist in the 70's - and it wasn't regular fayre it was a treat.

The Europa - was the first place I knew that did it - Slice of Veal, coated in a parmesan cheese, came with Chips, peas and a garnish on the side. (garnish on the side always made me laugh - 1 lettuce leaf, once medium slice of tomato and a single cucumber slice with half a dozen bits of grated carrot).

the parmesan was damn lovely .

Parmos were defo in town in 83/84 but they were pork and none of this hot shot bollox . In Bibis Straight serving of tons of cheese on identifiable bread crumbed pork turning up at either side of the plate .
In Europa it was Judges sat on one table and prossies sat on the next- everyone getting along fine

King prawn cashew nuts from the Chinese at the Palladium shops.
First parmesan I ever tried was in the early 80's and it was from Cypriana fish shop on Cumberland rd, a bloke called Gregory owned it and these days it would have been classed as a "ladies" parmo, pretty sure it was veal.
That was the first time I ever saw a donner kebab machine too.
