If you don't know the words to the red faction songs..

These aren't football terrace songs. Fair play to RF for trying, but they don't understand English football culture. There is a reason why they haven't taken off so far, and I think there is little to no chance that many of these will be adopted by the fans.

i don't think it's that they 'don't understand english football culture', they will do. they just try to embrace other cultures, especially the german fan scene. it's good, i would love english fans to embrace that sooner rather than later

It's a pity that I'm posting what could be seen as a negative post.
I love the effort and energy that the Red Faction have brought to the Riverside.
The North Stand is populated, in the main, by supporters who got their seats in 1995. So they are of an older generation.
Every game I sit in the West Upper and hear the North Stand try to initiate the "North Stand/South Stand" chant. No response. I don’t know how you "choreograph that but if we could it is a belter of a chant.
I'm too old now to dictate which songs/chants should be sung - I think they should be spontaneous. Up the Boro!

this thread kind of shows part of the problem we’re currently experiencing at the riverside. so many negative attitudes about anything that isn’t what people are used to. oh well, at least RF are trying
Dont think that's the issue at all tbf. All the classic songs have being replaced by the RF for songs that are mostly player based (so don't have longevity) and are pretty poor.

Why do they sing “Allez allez allez”? How long has that being going on? Strikes me as a little bit strange to be singing in French!

Admittedly I’m a bit deaf but I’ve never noticed that chant coming from the north stand until the 3rd or 4th round of ‘we’re the south stand’. I think it drains most of the urgency out of the game when fans are waiting ages for the opposite end to join in. For me it’s always a sign that the game has slowed down and everyone has given up on any action happening on the pitch.

Agree, I'm not against them creating new songs but you always need to keep the originals to make sure some of the older generation still get involved. Not many 60 year old blokes are going to be singing allez allez...
