If thats it for January.

What’s good to see is the fans seem to be on board with this new approach of only bringing in the right players as they become available.

Hopefully we have seen the back of knee jerk signings which turn out to be stinkers with no sell on value.

I seem to remember fans going into meltdown at the back end of the last January window .. what a difference a year makes!
Is that just because we’re doing so well on the pitch though?

There’s little to panic about, so no meltdowns and no panic signings, suspect it would be different if we had 1 win in 10.

Agree that it’s a really good window this. Few risks, no fuss, three good players, club operating under the radar, all seems very stable.

A bit disappointed to see Watmore and Hoppe go tbh also not sure bringing in a player on loan who is nowhere near match fit is a good idea. If we were in a bad run of form this board would be in meltdown about that but other wise really good window.

Hoppe was never getting a game anyway, Carrick was choosing to play Crooks up front rather than use him.

Watmore is a shame, but it's probably as much as gesture for him as anything else.

Great window, best for a while
I’m glad we’ve kept Muniz..

Muniz needs to step up and set his goals on helping us get promotion.

I feel there is more there than we have seen so far. It might help now that the club depend on him more than in the first half of the season

He just needs to be like Forss and Chuba.. and Archer

Muniz needs to show more fire and determination and prove his worth. You need fight to succeed in British football. If he carries on the way he has, I can‘t see him lasting much longer in Britain

The reality is though we're doing really well on the pitch.
In hindsight despite Wilders moaning the recruitment team did a great job in the summer.

We always knew we had the squad to be playing as we are, before the season started almost everyone tipped us as Top 6 at the minimum. Was always gonna be a case of Quality over Quantity this January

Not convinced it’s a great window, yes some good signings but so much reliance on loan players again which doesn’t really benefit us long term.
If we go up which we have a decent chance of making the playoffs then yes it works, but a strong chance we don’t then it’s another full rebuild in the summer as we seem to do every summer. Continuity has to be key to build a good squad and we just don’t seem to ever have that

It’s definitely a better window than we have had for a good while at least
I agree that continuity is an important ingredient, but the main thing which will benefit us long term is results on the pitch and ultimately, promotion.

Even if we become a yoyo club, gaining promotion then getting battered week in week out in the EPL we'll be in a fantastic position financially. The gap between parachute payment clubs and the rest is widening, I'd suggest we need to be grouped with latter ASAP.

Rebuilds are risky but providing we've got the correct recruitment model, a lot of that risk is mitigated. It's effective succession planning - if a high performing loan signing goes back we can try to extend or move onto the next player identified.

Without promotion I don't think we have the money for a significant rebuild built on permanent signings anyway. I'm sure we'll bring some in permanent (likely in Summer when the market conditions are easier) but loans give us the best chance of making progress on the pitch quickly.

The other element of continuity is the academy but we need to be realistic re: how many players will come through the pipeline each season. It's probably 2-3 max.

We'll need to wait and see to judge, I'd say.

Archer looked fantastic against Watford, but we've had false dawns with players before.

Jon Obi Mikel looked like a brilliant signing in his first few games and then turned to ****.

Plus, Ramsey won't be match fit for a while.

Hopefully Barlaser proves a shrewd signing.
