ICJ Ruling

A fairly devastating decision, but the court pulled its punches on ordering interim measures.

South Africa wanted the court to order an immediate ceasefire and the end of military activity in Gaza. Instead the court ordered Israel to take all measures to prevent acts of genocide. The problem with this is that Israel's position is that it hasn't committed any acts of genocide and the court hasn't ruled that it is committing genocide, only that there is a plausible case. So I expect Israel to pretty much continue what it is doing whilst making excuses that it is taking necessary measures. In the end, South Africa will have to go back to the court to get a more specific injunction.
