I still don't know anyone who has had Covid

And on the 1st, 2.2 million of the most vulnerable are released into a worsening situation.

I'm back to work on Monday for the first time in 4 months and bricking it.
I work in healthcare and fit. When covid started to hit my anxiety levels went through the roof, tried to put a brave face on it mind. Ensure you are prepared. Proper hand gel and mask. Hand washing in very warm water is probably more important. If you have to have contact with people try to keep a reasonable distance from them. I hope your employer feels a heightened level of responsibility for you also. It might be different for you with your health status but for me, occasionally I have taken the odd shortcut. You can get blasé over time. Dont let your guard drop and take care 👍😷👍

Gov are making it up as they go along as usual. Here’s the figures from the areas- Bolton hugely reduced yet included with the other 9 areas.

Same mate, first 4 weeks of not been allowed to work was what it was.
5th week I genuinely thought about F***ing everything off and getting away from it all.

Only after I did some of my own research, did some household jobs that needed doing and pratted about in the garden did I come to my senses. Also found out who my real friends are during that sticky week. Much better mental health now.

One or two people I know have retired due to this. Its a real shame as you cant buy the experience they have. Initially I thought they had jumped the gun but if anxiety takes a hold you can start to lose your self confidence and self esteem. Its a slippery slope then. I hope if it eventually blows over they come back as agency. They have made their decision for themselves, but at the same time possibly psychologically pushed.

The graph is out of date, the figures are higher , well over 10% have had tests but on that graph it looks much smaller.
Another way of looking at the figures is deaths in the USA are higher than the population of Middlesbrough, and the cases are approaching the population of Scotland and are on a steady rise.

yes, i've lost a family member. funeral via skype/zoom. awful, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

got a few friends who work in the NHS nurses in the north east and the north west.. they see it first hand and they have written their wills and videos for their kids off the back of it. pretty ****ed up seeing selfish ***** in town refusing to wear masks. take care folks, we are the highest in europe for deaths relating to covid-19 it's super contagious and the death rate is higher than they are making out.

if there was an ebola outbreak, you wouldn't go round looking for monkeys to stroke?

if there was an AIDS outbreak you'd rubber up. you might not hear about anyone dying from it. imagine if you didn't rubber up and you got it.. boy you're face would be red.

imagine those scenarios now, but the viruses are airborne and you can catch them by touching an infected surface.
sounds scary? well there's a cure for ebola and the treatment for HIV has been massively improved.
not with covid

As someone posted most of the infected don't know they have had it - they are often under 40. Possibly over 8 million people have had it in the UK. So most people will know someone who has been infected.

I was told last week that 17 regulars of one social club in Middlesbrough have passed away through Covid.

Few people at work caught it, one ended up in a pretty bad way, young lad too with no health conditions.

Elderly relative caught it whilst in hospital with another serious condition and looks to have made a full recovery, much quicker than the others I know who had it, seemed very strange.

Condolences to those who have lost family and friends. Just reading an earlier post about a funeral over skype, cant even imagine how much harder that makes things.

I live in the NY/long Island region & work in NYC. It was tough going over here, don't be fooled and don't let your guard down.

I've been working from home since the beginning of March. I had doctors' appointments this week and didn't want to put them off any longer, so I've been into the City for the first time since then. It's almost surreal. The LIRR car park is almost empty and the train has enough space to be well away from anyone else. Even the subway had plenty of space for social distancing. Everyone, and I mean everyone wears a mask. The hospital itself was busy, but my office area was almost deserted. I even risked the crosstown bus on the way home. The front is sealed off and everyone boards through the backdoor. No fares taken. Only a couple of other people on it. In normal times you are wedged together. I have a couple more appointments before the end of the year, but apart from those I won't be going into the office. It all reinforced my decision to retire. I really didn't feel comfortable, unlike where I live on Long Island, which is far from normal, but just feels safer.

I only know one. My cousin had it although at the time didn't know.

His case was quiet extreme as in he felt weak and slightly flushed at work. He was actually giving a power point brief and just felt dizzy and collapsed mid brief.

They called an ambulance and he tested positive for covid. He worked in an office with nearly 20 people in. I don't think he passed it into anyone (well last time we spoke). He spent 3 days in hospital. They said he was actually fully in the throws of the virus and actually coming out the other side. He probably had it for a week or so. His wife never caught it... Despite living with him in a 2 bed flat.
