I honestly could not care less who it is. Not bothered one bit.

I do want to see decent football

Knock these nonsence over tactical and worried about the opposition formations etc on the head. We are in the bloody championship. Keep it simple.

Get our own players. I can only imagine what Steffen is costing us. Ridiculous

Get someone in that can spot a decent footballer so we can sign them. Ie sort the scouting out.

Get rid of McNair from the back line.

thanks, that is all

Steve Bruce is joining this site just so he can like this post.

Managers make a huge difference, in different ways managers like Charlton, Rioch, Clough, Ferguson, Venables, Jim McLean and Mourinho have completely changed the fortunes of teams and clubs. You'd have to be daft to not realise the difference a great manager can make.

I don't care who takes over simply because I think our issues are recruiting and day to day running based. With that in mind, any new manager will be hampered by them.

Not bothered in the slightest, if he comes in a does well i will br happy but if we are still in the same position towards the end of the season just sack him, it wont change anything

To be honest I think the success of the next appointment includes a huge portion of 'pot luck'. A rookie could turn out to be a good appointment whilst an experienced manager could turn out to be useless, there are absolutely no guarantees.

I care who we appoint but I don't have a strong opinion on who it should be. I suppose I do have a strong opinion about who it SHOULDN'T be (Allardyce, Bruce, Dyche and probably others) but of those mentioned in the press.

Meh.

When the white smoke issues from the Gibson's retreat high in the Eston Hills and his choice is revealed, I'll have a think about it.

My dog was interviewed today. They wanted him to take the job but he turned it down. He's happy enough playing five a side in the churchyard with me and the ghouls. We hadn't been able to do that for ages because of my dodgy foot, but the foot is better now. We spanked them 7-0 last night. They're not very good. Bits of them keep falling off.

Massive decision this so I don't mind us taking time to get the right people in.
I have a gut feeling we will be happy with the final choice.

Considering the amount of managers we’ve had in the past few years I can see why most people are just turned off by this whole process which in many respects is like being at the roulette table when you’re drunk.

However I do care about who SG appoints next, and for the life of me I don’t want another “look at my cv” type person which is where we could be with a Dyche (Pulis in disguise) appointment.

I quite like the idea of Carrick coming in and being in the learn mode for the simple reason those type of appointments have seemed to have served SG and MFC well in the past.

Moreover, the season is relatively young and therefore pressure should be lessened by a young coach who will probably let the lads play rather than play to a chalkboard.

So it’s Carrick for me or a similar styled coach who is open to a new approach and ask for advice when needed.

This group have under achieved and need a massive kick up the aris by whoever comes in .
Great training facilities , they have it too easy, big jack had the group running up eston hills in the rain , and playing on a field at Hutton road trying to avoid the dog shirt as they played.
Back to basics, winning mentality , we will win no matter what.
Won't win them all , but won't go down like a one legged dog like v Millwall.
We need our new man to bring the pride and passion back. UTB

I do care - and i don’t think I’m in a minority. This is important, if he gets this wrong then we might be consigned to the lower leagues for years, or even for ever

I totally agree but that was then and this is now unfortunately. Many of us remember those days when the players would come to Ayresome Park driving old bangers and having the same clothes on from the night out at the Madhouse.

Ok they still kick the same shaped ball around but apart from that everything has changed— some say for the worse but it’s still the game that brings people together and perhaps that’s the most important aspect which we tend to forget.

I don’t think the manager is the problem

Whoever it is isn’t likely to last longer than 1.5 seasons anyway, even if he does ok. If he (or she) did he’d be our longest serving manager since Karanka, who is the only manager we’ve had in the last 16 years with any kind of success.

A poster used to repeat ad nauseam on this board that the role of the manager was overstated, well its starting to feel like it really doesn’t matter who manages us, and looking at the list of options (whilst I’ll give anyone a chance) it is increasingly hard to care.

Won't make a difference to my life

However, I do want to see my children be able to buy their own house
or afford their rent
Or their tent
or cardboard box

Anyone else?

They'll pop in, make their million or two then get the bullet, taking their wealth to their next temporary location.

It's not just our club that's knackered and almost permanently under the cosh. The fans on here are the same as fans at almost every other club, success is needed now and for many it doesn't matter how we get it.

Do many watch league football these days because they actually enjoy the game?
