I don’t understand!

The photo in the OP says a lot to be honest. It’s the arrivals hall where people returning are kept in Non social distancing lines because the e-gates were not operating and inward arrivals all individually being checked for a Covid negative test.

Good point. Either way I just presumed airports would be very quiet at the moment and how you and other posters have described their travel experiences.
What’s your excuse - did you come home for Christmas?
Airports are generally very quiet. When a plane lands though, it's hard to avoid some sort of queue at immigration.

It would appear that there’s a new form of identifying yourself - nostril recognition ! Who Needs passports when they have a clever device to identify you through your nostrils . I say this as many in line are displaying their nostrils in readiness .

I remember a news reporter interviewing someone from either Heathrow or Gatwick last year who said that a social distanced queue for a flight would be a mile long.😲

That bloke in the checked shirt at the right of the pic is going to be disappointed when he learns the pubs are shut .

You must walk that from the plane to the arrivals desk in Heathrow so job done ;-)

I'd Heathrow as big as they say it is? I've never flown from them there, only Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Teesside in this country.

It feels smaller as it is more like several little airports you travel in and out of, as opposed to say Schiphol where it feels more like one giant airport.

Obviously my comment was a bit tongue in cheek but it’s either Heathrow or Gatwick where you probably do walk about half a like to the arrivals desk, either that or it just feels that long because you are tired after a long flight.

It is a pretty big airport though as it has five terminals and shuttle trains between different areas of the airport so yes it’s pretty big
