I would have him back, but, if you sign a player who has been used to being paid a lot more for the same job, how motivated will they be? This is going to apply in many situations in the EFL.
To be fair it’s only Roofie displaying any kind of animosity on this thread. Why the animosity? Like anyone else, he'll be aware of his market value, he'll know what he's going to ask for and will be primed and ready for any discussion and negotiation if the right employment opportunity comes his way.
Yes, he's one of the lucky ones.
I'd have him back.
Not at all.To be fair it’s only Roofie displaying any kind of animosity on this thread.
It was the point about being out of a job raised by the original poster I was responding to.To be fair Roofie, he hasn't been whining in the press about not having a job, so why are people getting on his back? we would all happily accept 25k a week off our employer if they were daft enough to offer it, so good luck to him.

Im not interested if hes been whinging in the press or not.
How many people do we all know whose jobs are under threat or have lost them already?
Thats whats important from my perspective.
It could be Matt Tootle I might have more empathy with - as a non league player
Down the ladder - club staff who dont have the choice to clean or administer in the football market are facing dire financial straits.
Whats the problem in pointing out the reality for the many, not the few?
Agreed, at CB he lacked the positional awareness and often get caught pressuring the ball too high up the pitch. I remember two games running last season, he was playing CB and chased the striker back to the half way line. The striker laid it off to a midfielder who played someon in where Shotton should have been at CB and we conceded.I would prefer to move on, he was to blame for lots of goals in my opinion, especially at CB. I thought his better performances were at RWB where he could do less damage. i hope he gets a club though and wish him well
When I posted this thread I didn't expect Shotton would receive negative posts.
I understand that he walked away during a time when we needed all hands at the pump, but I don't think there is one of us who wouldn't have done the same. I am expected to take a large pay cut in September and have made arrangements to leave my current post. Why would I do the same job for less?
Footballers are no different.
