I am VERY excited about tonight’s game

This may well come back and bite me on the arsè at 9:40pm but I just have that feeling that we’re going to win tonight. And yes I know I always post stuff like this and have had the same feelings of excitement and positivity before every Boro game since 1991, but I honestly think we’re going to win it.

It’s just got that sort of Championship feel to it. Norwich are flying having lost only one league game this calendar year - away at Leeds, so no shame in it - while Boro are really struggling having recorded the almost exact opposite run of form to Delia Smith’s tractor-loving farmboys in 2024.

I think we may well have reached a nadir at Stoke on Saturday and will be straight out of the traps. It could well be 3-0 to Boro at half time. I wouldn’t rule it out. It’s a real coupon buster imo. Win tonight and then we can go into Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at QPR in a really positive frame of mind.

Hope you're right.

It's been 10 weeks since we had a positive home result in the league.

5 bad results in a row, surely got to buck that trend soon.

I would still make Boro favourites tonight.
Couple of surprise returns to the bench to add some hope tonight
3-0 Boro

For weeks, I've had this nonchalant "meh - were finishing mid table so......🤷🏻‍♂️" kind of attitude.....but last night was keeping a very close eye on the teams below us - for the first time this season.

I'm slightly nervous about tonight, but I also have a feeling that we'll get a win and indeed the pressure will be off slightly for Saturdays defeat at QPR.

Lath to score👍

And to think I had categorised you as one of the sensible posters. 😉

I have decided for the first time ever to set off later than normal tonight and wait for the team news - only 20 mins from ground. If he starts those on loan full backs I’m not going to bother. They already have my gate money through my season ticket and I won’t be using the free drink so no negative financial impact on the club. Perhaps it was the hope and expectation at the end of last season and the euphoria of Carrick’s appointment that made me have inflated expectations for this year but my disillusionment seems way higher this year than even the Strachen and Pulis years. There does seem to be a strange heightened air of dissatisfaction among supporters this year than I have read for a long time on here - season ticket fiasco just poured oil on the flames but got to a point where im not just not enjoying the game because of the crap we are putting on the field I am actually forcing myself to go. Sad times.

I'd take a score draw tonight. The last 2 outings have been atrocious in effort and sheer basics. It seems like over half the players on the pitch suddenly fancy doing something else for a career . Can't see anything but a 3 nil to Norwich here with a cruel deflection early goal , then a pass out from the back give away from us, then in the last 12 mins a nice own goal gift too . Can't wait for it

Maybe that's because Pulis qualified for the playoffs in his first season with us and finished 7th in his second his season with us. Only missing out on the play offs by a point. A really poor end to the season denied us a playoff spot.
The football was crap to watch under Pulis but he always had us up the top end of the table and promotion was achievable during his whole tenure. We finished with 76 points in his first season and 73 points in his second season.

Even Strachan finished 11th after taking over from Southgate and got us to 62 points which is likely to be better than this season.

The reason you are more disillusioned is because the results and league positioning are worse than they were then.

We always do well against teams that try to play football. Norwich fit that category so I'm expecting a better performance from us. We need to be tight at the back and not concede first though, as heads will drop both on the pitch and in the stand if we do. The first goal will be vital!

Is it really less than a year since we smashed them 5-1 at home all but confirming our play off spot?

Norwich are that kind of opponent for us. Very few draws between us, as far as I can remember - and then they are spectacular, like the 4-4 in 2005 and 3-3 in 1993.

The only thing giving me any sort of hope for tonight is the clip below from BBC Norfolk, because if this was reversed and Boro fans came out with this sort of line we would end up with egg on our faces.

Yep, that’s the sort of thing that should ensure a Boro victory. And not just a victory, but an absolute demolition job all done and dusted by the 29th minute.

I think it's a couple of false dawn's too.

Just seen two young men and a young woman in Guisborough High street with Long Black Training Type Coats on with Norwich emblem and Lotus on the back. Wonder if the team are staying at guisborough hall

if we try and play it out from the back in our own 18 yard box all game then we will be well beaten.

can't see anything other than a norwich win

**reverse psychology**  😂 😂
