... realistically end the play off challenge?

Depending on results that could put us 9 points outside of the top 6.

Awful thought but could the season be effectively over if Jon Parkin turns it on tomorrow? 😮

Alternatively - big confidence win tomorrow, Norwich and Watford take a point off each other, a couple of surprise defeats for Hull and the Mackems - bish bash bosh, we are in the mix, bring a spoon gents.

Seriously, can anyone see us being able to put a consistent run together which will get us a playoff place? Take the run in October out, and this season has been wonderfully inconsistent at best.

I'll buy an expensive ST if we do .......but not the EB.......😉

You can stay due to a comment on the football side .... but you are hanging on by the skin of your teeth with that sneaky bit at the end 🧐

Why would we take the good run out though? It’s that run that shows us we as capable as anyone else of putting together 5 or 6 wins on the bounce. I personally think we’re firmly in the mix, but if we won’t play Forss up front or don’t get one of Coburn or Latte Lath back then it’s going to be incredibly difficult to build those wins up.

I don’t think this iteration of Boro - with the back up ‘keeper, McGree on the bench, no recognised striker and Greenwood ploughing the lone furrow, Hackney playing out of position to accommodate inferior midfielders - is really going to threaten the top 6 much but if we simplify it, settle the team down and get players playing where they perform best, then it may well come together for us.

Because that was October, and in the following 3 months we have been inconsistent at best. We don't have a CF, Carrick doesn't know what his best team is - injuries have definitely taken their toll.

It's not a criticism, just an observation.

I personally just can't see it happening. Just a step too far for us this season.

And Forss, despite him playing all his career as a CF is not going up top. He's the new Stuani.

I believe we will fall short just purely down to the inconsistent form. It just feels like, win lose, win lose with two tough games coming up.

given that realistically there are two spots available i don't see us getting one of them without a big turnaround in form and putting a run together.

Never write off MC but does feel like it was just never going to be our season.

Never known a season like it for things going against us. We've made mistakes obviously but even so, without the bad luck we'd probably be in the play-off positions.

Recruitment is what it is. Goes without saying there are some key positions that need filling and with quality in the summer.

But we really need (and you'd hope this is happening) to try and get underneath the injury issues.

It might just be really bad luck, and you'd think sports scientists, fitness coaches are pretty much doing the same thing up and down the country. But if I was MC I'd be bringing in someone external and independent to look at everything we're doing and see if they can identify anything.

Feels like we didn't get pre-season right either (and that might be linked to the injuries) so I'd hope we're looking at that too.

Probably gone off topic there a bit, but at least I didn't mention ST prices!

No

Whilst there's still plenty of games left, I'll always believe.

Get Glover out the team. Get Fry out the team. Get Hackney back in midfield where he's best. Get McGree in the first 11. And then we will see improved performances and with improved performances, we should see improved results.

Realistically it's already over. Being the Championship, there's still a chance but it requires the kind of massive run coming out of nowhere that happens with one club most seasons. At this point, whether that is us or not is a lottery.

It is possible that that things have been slowly sliding into place for us below the surface and sometimes you have to have a bad spell to force change in a system. It might be that we go to Preston and things just come together, sparking a run of 35 points in the next 16 games. Realistically, there's no way to look at our performances this season (or even the end of the last one) and come up with a convincing explanation for how it could happen. It's not impossible, though.

Other than a centre forward, we have more than enough ability to be amongst the mix. Our issue has been the injuries, we seemed just to be getting over them and then will lose another.

There are still 16 games to go but if I am being honest, I can't see us finishing in the top 6.

Edit: Forgot the ST part - What incentive is there for a new ST to pay £70 more than an existing season ticket holder?
