I’m listening to the Leicester commentary

I don’t know who the commentator is, or who the summariser is, but my god, they are making this out like it’s a David and Goliath contest, how plucky little Middlesbrough should be grateful to be even sharing a pitch with the mighty Leicester, and how this scoreline will be reverberating around the world of football.

Get a grip, besides for a couple of freak years they are a similar size club to us, I can’t bear hearing how they are going on like they are absolute footballing royalty.

TBF they are one of the few clubs that have won the Premier League & have also won the FA Cup, their best years may be behind them though they had much success while it lasted..

It started right from the kick-off when the ref made Silvera take the kick-off again when City took the knee. It was something along the lines of 'they don't even know how to kick-off.

Get the chip off your shoulder. It's embarrassing

You want to bear listening to two hours of BBC Nottingham when Trees are playing.......... (n)

If I could actually figure out what you’re on about, I’d probably take the time to put you right. But since I can’t I’ll just tell you to fuhk off instead crank
Ian Stringer and Matt [“pipes”] Piper — do BBC Leicester sport commentary sometimes. They grew up believing the Premiership was Sugar Candy Mountain and the moon was covered in gold dust. 🌑

A little smaller than us historically.

Much bigger than us over all.

They've won the league, they've won the FA Cup and they've won the League Cup three times, whilst we fairly pathetically try to lord it over the trophy virgins up north with a single League Cup in our history.

We have absolutely nothing over Leicester City, so I don't get trying to demean their achievements, they're a bigger club than us.

He did say historically. Yes recent years are history of course but its not really what he meant is it. Barring the incredible last few years they've undoubtedly been a very similar sized club.

Recent years being the last 25 years.

Obviously if you take away all the many things they've done better than us in my lifetime, we're very similar, but you can't take that away.

25 years?prior to the last few years 2 league cups vs one league cup and a UEFA cup final? Plus they dropped into league 1 during that time.

I think I’d like you to justify that.

They joined the football league before we did. They won their first trophy before we did, and it’s a bigger trophy than we have ever won. They hadnt dropped into the third tier before we did twice albeit briefly on each occasion. They’ve been English champions, which we have never been. The city has a bigger population.

Curious, as to which measure of “bigness” has us in front.

I was thinking back to the list of all time average attendances that came out a while back and they were smaller than ours, despite their fans thinking their support was massive compared to ours.

watched the game on Leicester City website and the commentry was balanced ... the guy was praising Van as the BIG Boro defender ... they sounded a tad shocked at the first half but were very confident it would be a game of two differing halves ... the two guys talking at half time were very complementary of our set up formation and how we counter attacked

Sound very much like two clubs not far from Ratae Coritinorum: one 27 miles North East and one 34 miles North West.
All three are like three squirrels fighting to get out of a sand bag, whilst no one else takes any notice.(n)
