Hull want the season voided

But how are we going to start a new season? Presently who would go and sit in a football stadium?
Without fans how can any team exist through a season - and what would be the point?
For me that is the real worry, not finishing this season, it is how on earth do we start next season? - And without next season how does football survive?

Fans are part and parcel of the game - as Rob said above - without them what is the point - apart from the money-go-round of EPL televised games?
Any team that is relegated, presuming that there is a restart, must feel very hard done too.

That is by far the easiest thing to answer and the easiest to solve. It is also the only option that makes sense. Treat it like a match that has been abandoned and replay it. Start next season the same way that this season started. Easy.

On top of that, you build in any contingencies you need so if something happens again then the rules are in place to decide. As it is the clubs themselves are being left to decide what is best and obviously their current positions changes their thinking. It's effectively allowing people to decide who gets promoted/relegated instead of them doing it on merit.

Assuming WBA, Leeds and Fulham

Voiding a season means that the results of the season have not happened.
Given that it states in the article that promotion and relegation should be decided later I would say they want the remainder of the season cancelled, which would mean results still stand, but they figure out a way of defining the final table. I think they're confusing two separate solutions. I believe the EFL has already said the league will not be voided and that they will finalise the table on points per game, however they want to explore finishing it. I think that's the correct decision.

That isn't a simple solution at all. It essentially gives the clubs that would be relegated from the prem a free £100 million. And denies that to the clubs who would be promoted.

You can't determine who any of those teams would be. You would be leaving it for teams to choose amongst themselves.

Forget about money. There is no fair way to decide who goes up/down with any integrity. It is a competition at the end of the day, the money is a byproduct. It might be what the individuals/businesses running the clubs care about but it is the sport that ultimately matters. It should not be a financial decision.

You can't separate money from the game. It's the reward for achievement and it's what buys you players to get those achievements. If you give teams vast rewards for things they have not achieved that vastly undermines the sporting integrity of a competition.
There is a fair solution. Finish the season when it is safe to do so. There are issues that arise from this such as the extension of players contracts, but I don't believe they come close to outweighing the issues that arise from cancelling the season, or worse voiding it.

You can't wait forever. Sky are not going to pay next season if the season is cut in half because this one gets extended so what's the difference?

They should really be doing a deal with Sky etc to make sure this season's payments are honoured, maybe pro rata and cutting players wages to make up the difference. Pay out prize money as compensation to all teams. No winners or losers.

Money shouldn't be the driving factor though. If you can't finish the season within the next month or so (which they can't) then there's really no choice but to abandon it.
