Went to both these games at Watford and Hull. Hitched down to Watford on Thursday night with a mate and spent night in a park. Sh1tting it all night in case anybody found us. Immediately after the match set off hitching to Hull. we thought it would be no problem but by midnight we had just reached Doncaster. Managed to find a car showroom type of place on M18 which was open fronted and slept in there for the night before getting a lift next day to Hull. Got a lift straight back from Boro fans that we knew in Hull. we were 17 at the time. Looking back I don't know how we were so mad. I would be sh!tting it again if my kids had tried to do this at 17.
At least we got back the same day as the game. Year previously at Easter we had gone down to London. Crystal Palace on Friday, Charlton on Saturday. At least we had some where in London to sleep that time. Set off hitching to Middlesbrough straight after Saturday game. Saturday night got as far as Scratchwood services, first services on M1. In those days they closed at about midnight and staff let us sleep on the floor after it closed. Next morning we walked back along motorway to get to A1. Got stopped by police for walking on the motorway. Eventually got on A1 and headed back to Boro. Got back late on Monday night!
