How much has Ryan Giles' valuation increased this year?

To be fair his delivery into the box has been phenomenal all season, but I think defensively he's also improved.
Sadly this feels like we're victims of our own success in that if we get promoted his valuation will rise beyond what we can afford.

It's the DJed Spence scenario again. Hopefully we can use that as an example of what not to do and he'd choose us over anyone else. I still think he's not strong enough defensively to play in the PL but I do agree he has improved and maybe will continue to do so (with us rather than with someone else).

still questions on his defensive ability at the prem level, so I suspect his current valuation will be limited by that. I can't see an established prem side going in for him. Even Wolves have never really shown any desire to give him a chance despite scraping around the bottom end of the prem for the past couple of years.

A player is worth what a club will pay, so I'd guess he's in the 8-12m bracket.

Patrick Bamford came to us from Chelsea for £5.5m and it was only recently that they were talking of shipping out Archer on a permanent deal. Ramsey has potential but his no where near the Villa first team and he's recently had knee surgery. £16m for the pair would be very good business from Aston Villa looking at £9m+ for Archer and £7m for Ramsey.

I don't think GIles will be as much as either of those two.. £3.5m would be my guess.. no prem experience, no big whoop from Rotherham, Cardiff or even Blackburn

around £20m for the three I would say is good business around

absolutely no chance at those numbers, I wish it was, but it won't be. I don't even think Villa will be open to selling Ramsey this summer. Archer maybe but they'll be looking for north of 10m as a starting position. 20m would be astounding business for the three but it'd be well over 30m plus add-ons in reality.

Maybe we could get Giles for 5 or 6 at a push if there's no other interest or if we don't get promoted and they want to cash in. But again at that fee it would be plus significant add-ons

I think those are solid numbers for where they are tbf

Clearly not wanted by Aston Villa.. they were ready to sell Cameron Archer in January..
daft talk about Aaron Ramsey maybe being the next Jack Grealish will stir up the Villa fans.
Unai Emery will take a look but I think he’ll know what he wants..

We’ll see.

Villa didn’t allow any potential purchase clause in the loan for Archer so not sure where you get that they were ready to sell in Jan…

I'd be delighted to get those 3 for a combined £20m.
I'd be very surprised too. They would be a great buy at that even if we don't go up.
If we got them for £20m on promotion then I'd be stunned.

I think we asked for a loan to buy but they just wanted a loan - they see him as having a big future at Villa apparently, and I can see why
the talk was that he wasn’t in Unai Emery’s plans and would be allowed to leave.. I think the loan was intended to put him in the shop window and increase his value.

Footballer values don’t work the same way they used to as no Premier League side has to sell. The best way to think about it is what he is worth to us. In the Championship he’d certain be worth another loan, but I doubt he’d be worth more than £2 million of a £8m budget. To a premier league team he might be worth triple that, but could you find an alternative of similar quality for £6m or so? Probably if your looking in the right places.

Wolves may want a PL-sized fee for a player unproven at that level. Start looking at the other Wolves players who are competing for the left wing/left back position.

Is he a premier league player! And who in the premiership would buy him? Yes he’s been great for us in the championship, and if we are still there next season, then we should try and get him on loan again, or buy him cheaply, if Wolves ask for silly money, they will be stuck with him.

agreed prem sides only sell for a couple of reasons:
1 - a bad apple or player causing bad vibes because he's nowhere near first team
2 - to go on a big investment splurge
3 - players contract running out so recoup value
4 - player is nowhere near prem ability

Archer:

1 - The only reason we have him on loan is that he couldn't get a game in the first 6 months. I'd guess he had plenty of loan options in the summer, but chose to stay with Villa. He obviously wouldn't be happy to go back to villa and sit on the bench for 6 months then go back on loan to the champ. so I think that would be in our favour to get him.

2 - Villa haven't troubled the top half of the table recently, in fact it's 12 years since they finished in the top half. They need to invest in some high quality attacking players to really threaten teams. They're a bit like us when we had Nemeth, Job and Masimo, OK at the back, do enough to keep away from danger but lacked a bit of threat. To go up another level they need to sign 3x 30-40m forwards. It's unlikely that Archer can reach that level without 2 years playing in the prem, and he won't get it at villa right now. So they might sell, but only at a premium to fund big signings. Selling Archer to us for 15m might fund half of a big name CF for them.

3 - Contracted for 4 more years. What the hell did his agent do, hampered his options.

4 - he isn't yet, but looks like he could do well in a bottom 8 side now and push on with some experience.

With that 4 year contract, there is no way we get him on the cheap. Villa can keep loaning him out. Of course in his head at some point he will want some permanency.

With Giles, the noises are that he is nowhere near Wolves first team. Younger players in the same position. Wolves again need to raise money to invest and move away from the bottom. This summer will be the point they can maximise his value as he has 2 years left on his contract. He is unproven in the prem and the noises are that he is sick of being farmed out, and wants that permanency now. Should be avail and the discussions will be around 5m if in the champ or 8m in the prem.....but they'll play silly sods and start discussions much higher.

Looks like Wolves will be happy to sell Giles; they don't need him and can reinvest the money.
Pretty sure Man City will be happy to offload Steffen but I don't see anyone else paying him Man City level wages so he may be reluctant to leave. There may be a top 6 side happy to spend 60K a month on a back-up keeper. Steffen will have a decision to make because I can't see us offering him more than 40K per week.
Villa may sell Archer depending on who they recruit this summer. I can see them cashing in and buying someone more experienced.
Don't see Villa selling Ramsey but he may go on loan to a Premier league club.

How much is Giles worth: depends on who is willing to pay. If we get promoted and we're the only seriously interested buyer then I can see us getting him for £5-7m with add-ons.

current manager does not want to sell archer or ramsay, he rates them highly, gerrard didnt want to sell archer when we bid for him, he wanted to see if he was someone he could use.

never get them 3 for 20m, be lucky if one of them is actually for sale, and if it is then its giles
