How many away grounds have you been to?

I live in Kent, and it's still nearly 300 miles.

2 kids teams, wow, that's some commitment, I have one team and that absolutely batters my weekends.
Took my oldest lads team on and then when my second started playing, the club secretary gave me the guilt trip. You can't run one lads team and not the other :ROFLMAO:. It's full on. Never been so busy but fulfilling as well. Keeps me out the pub.

I'm doing everything I can do make sure my youngest lad has a different hobby 😁

This is another stat that I currently don't monitor. I probably should. For what it's worth I've been to 496 different grounds in 55 different countries. My English total is 181 grounds at all levels and I'm on 56 of the 92.

Any particular stadium or country that stands out to you and you would recommend?

Not really. I've enjoyed most of the places I've been too. I prefer smaller grounds at a lower level and picturesque locations so I suppose Iceland is a good call. There are some spectacular backdrops to games there. South Korea has a lot of small clubs out in the countryside that are good to visit and watching football in Africa allowed me to turn up in places that if there hadn't been a game on would have made people suspicious of my presence.

Russia is good too. Lots of old stadiums that seem to have barely changed in decades.

Hi, I've got a mate who is a Leicester fan and we used to go and watch them and Boro when they were playing nearby when we were at Uni. Had some great days out.
Cheers. Have a good mate who is a huge Leicester fan, so done a few games away with him too. Not a popular opinion on here maybe, but never saw much difference in the real fans between us and them. Until recently, pretty similar sized clubs too…

About 70 I think, many no longer there. Mostly England, but a few in Holland and Italy. Also La Bombonera, which was amazing.

20 for me. Would have been 21 however Forest was sold out by the time we got there when you could still pay at the turnstile.

15 other grounds mainly watching Leicester in England and 6 in Scotland watching Falkirk.
65 some good ones early on like Chester, Rochdale, Halifax, Oldham, The Dell, Pompy

77 For me. including Europe.
Must admit I'm not bothered about away games now. Too easy to watch in the pub.
54th year with a season ticket as well UTB

Around 71 (I think) different grounds across a variety of measures since 73/74 (as some grounds no longer exist like Maine Rd, Leeds Rd, Filbert St etc ) with Boro, I can add a few more but that was not with Boro playing.

This thread (and the desire to put off doing anything productive) has encouraged me to go back through my records and try and answer the original question.

I reckon that I've seen a Boro representative team at 82 away grounds (if you count neutral venues like Wembley and Cardiff as away). If you add in the home grounds of Ayresome and the Riverside plus grounds like Synners etc where I've watched the u23s or reserves play home fixtures it takes my total number of grounds where I've seen a Boro team play to 87.

Breakdown by decade is

70s - 3 grounds visited for the first time
80s - 34
90s - 9
00s - 26
10s - 6
20s - 9

I might add this to my many tracked stats.

Just realised that I've either not counted the Port Vale game at Hartlepool game or I've wrongly categorised it as an away game. I need to be a bit more thorough. That raises the question though, have we played home games anywhere else than Ayresome, Riverside or Hartlepool (first team only)?

I've seen Boro play at 70 league clubs in E&W and at 82 grounds, given I've been to 12 clubs at their old and new stadiums.
That excludes 2 Darlington and a Scarborough, as they are out of the league now.
Add Wembley, Cardiff, Alkmaar, Eindhoven, Villareal, Sporting, Rome, that is Boro at 92 grounds.

I've seen matches at 8 Scottish grounds and another 6 major European grounds.

My biggest miss, that is gone forever is Maine Rd. It looks like Ive missed Kenilworth Rd now too, but can live with that.
Clubs I've missed but want to get to are Bournemouth, Swansea, Plymouth and Luton.
Second grounds I want to get to are Rotherham, Hull, Everton, Coventry, Derby, Leicester, Spurs, West Ham, Brentford, Brighton and Cardiff.

My target is to see Boro on 100 grounds in England & Wales. 13 to go.

Rob will be too modest to get on here, but I'd guess he blows everyone out of the water given he's barely missed a match in the 35 years since I first met him.
