That's a statement I never expected to read!

I had just seen him against us at Old Trafford, he was outstanding. When we bought him I thought for the first time.we were in the big league.

Not often I am right but I was wrong again.

Opinions eh. I never seen manion so can't comment. Souness should get a mention though. Better than jjunhinio? Who knows.

He didn't get a mention, I asked him about the best players he'd seen, he mentioned quite a few he'd seen post war, including Mannion.

Then I asked him about the best Boro player, he said Juninho, I asked about Mannion compared to him and he said he was brilliant but Juninho had something a bit more, the pace he moved with the ball under close control.

I didn't ask about Souness, who I thought was brilliant but he'd been watching since the war and had seen far more top Boro players than myself.

Maybe TLF could be involved in a testimonial, if there ever is one. I remember seeing Wilf Mannion in a 'veterans' match and, even though you only got a couple of glimpses, you could say you saw him play.
