How Can Our Club Connect To You?

I was going to say early that the fact this question is being asked to fans in a message board speaks volumes as well.
It would be typical of the club to try and get someone else to do the work for them for free.

Having someone from the club to come along and do a Q&A on the forum would be good. The Q&A with the club shop recently was pointless because they just fobbed it off and said everything was fine and there was no way to present challenges or facts to back anything up.

Or they should take the initiative and do it themselves on Instagram or something. I see people doing them all the time, answering questions in real time. Reddit do AMA (Ask me anything) where people pose questions which then get answered.

Don't have to reinvent some clever way of marketing. They can just use one of the successful methods that businesses and celebrities already employ to increase interactions/engagement.

Yes, of course, it’s absolute common sense in one of the most impoverished areas in the country you don’t charge one of the highest prices in the country for your product. It’s crossed the tipping point after ripping the hole out of people for years.

1. Season card holders taken for granted.

2. Outrageous match by match prices for those who can’t afford a season card.

3. New season card applicants completely and utterly exploited with an insulting uplift to the early bird price.

Some great ideas on this thread but the majority are a “nice to have”. Stop exploiting customers and you’ll have more of them.

We have just seen our chair resign through harassment on social media and in the street. Sadly, people are going to feel very inhibited if the meetings are streamed. Maybe everyone would have to wear masks or be pixelated or hire a voice actor. That goes for club staff as well. In an ideal world you would like to do this but it is sadly not an ideal world.
It’s terrible that like, outrageous that people were harassing the poor guy and I get your point Rob.

Isn’t the visibility and accountability an important part of being a fan’s group representative though? If they are supposed to be there to represent a section of fans?

Seems like it’s part and parcel of the privilege of being in that room, and if you don’t want to be a public representative, you probably shouldn’t be volunteering to represent people. Doesn’t apply to you mate, you’re a very visible and approachable figure on here or on matchdays (and do a brilliant job of it) but it just adds to the closed shop perception of the supporters forum. It’s as if the club are happy to have a dialogue with fans, but only 7 fans, and we don’t get to know what is said and who is saying it.

If people are really concerned it would be simple to just stream audio. I agree that it’s not entirely fair on club staff.

1. Remove the ridiculous "new applicant" mark up for a season ticket & Cheaper tickets all round season card and walk up. Most people would buy a season card anyway to get their seat / for ease / for priority points. There's no reason walkups should be so much higher and incur a 1.50 booking fee. The ground should be nearly full each week - most people going would spend a little on an overpriced pint / drink / burger so surely more money would be made by having more bums on seats. Having 30k each game would also surely improve performance through atmosphere compared to 25k?

2. Gibson to do more interviews etc. - I think most fans really like to hear him speak, his thoughts etc. it's a massive shame that so many deliberately misquote him on "smash the league" when it was plainly obviously he didn't say that, and was speaking like a fan of the club saying that we want to make a right good go of it - he then also put the money in to make this happen and Monk spent it all on rubbish.

3. Can't believe the part about not being able to go watch the training. I remember doing that when I was young and can't see any reason why they'd have stopped it - I assumed you were still allowed.

Erm.....not sure MBC have any money thanks to the current government.
Crowd fund Red Faction to oversee the painting of the Seqens wall on dockside road between the subways .
Red Faction could replicate some of their flag art work , 10 wall sections , 10 art works .
Involve whoever did the artwork for the east stand generation red fan zone , they are very good.
I'm sure there are Paint companies locally who would donate paint .
Obviously with permission from Seqens and the council , Seqens may even fund it to clean up the image of the site.

The Season Ticket renewals must be disappointing if they’ve sent Rob to us asking how to tempt people back. They’ve messed up big time these past few months.
They could announce a change of heart and price freeze from last season .
Those that have renewed get a refund. All happy.

It would be very unfair on the staff and to be honest the actions of people harassing not just Mark but a couple of other Forum members is going to put people right off this.

If you really believe this then what exactly is the point in these audiences with Gibson?
Let me tell you I would attend, would interact, communicate and would certainly not be worried about being recognised.
But Gibson does not want people like me interacting.

Who are "people like you" just out of interest ?

More ??? When was his last one

It’s not more it’s none he has zero connection to the fans now none not even at sc renewal time once a year but nope he can’t even be bothered to do that now.

Instead we have the shortest cursory give us your cash or don’t bother coming email.

It’s really quite poor.

Fair point (although 1 or 2 is still more than 0 ), I guess there's the odd newspaper interview but I'd love to hear from him on Tees a couple of times a season. I know he should do them but some blame needs to go to people using the smash the league comment all the time.

I guess the last proper one was when he appointed Woodgate?

Being more transparent and communicate with the fan base as we are all on the same page but the trouble is when fans kick up a fuss the club get so defensive at times the retail Q&A reflected.

I'm past the point of giving a sh*t about Gibson really. Interviews or not he's gone from being a man of the people, one of us, to a Tory apologist.

Yes, that's his prerogative and his democratic right. But I don't have to like or respect it.

The PR out of the club from top level management is total bollox. Veering from shambolic to non existent. Everything in between.

So, if Gibson and Bausor are uncomfortable with this public speaking role - many are, not knocking them - why not employ PR/Media Consultants to sort this for them? And even looking at having an honorary President or some other daft title. Like an ex player, respected (generally!) by the fans and can act as an intermediary between Gibson and the howling masses ie the supporters.

Jeez, a lot of simple things could surely be implemented to make MFC look like a smooth multi million pound business, not a Houchen esque spin off.

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I know of someone who is probably at a loose end now that Preston has been kicked out. He'll do something for a very reasonable £32,000, just dont ask what he's actually doing.
