How About This For Classic Terrible Homer Refereeing ?

Is that Adam LeFondre?

Anyroad, what's the problem? And he (the ref) missed that the first penalty should have been retaken as a Wellington player was in the box.

the headbutty thing - both should have gone
the red by the sideline, harsh - yellow at most.

the pens, no problem with either - not the most blatant though both players waving their arms about.

Totally agree. The 2nd yellow for the first red was pathetic. The second red was probably justifiable but why didn't the Sydney player walk as well. That was puzzling refereeing.

Thought the penalty was probably right. Adam La Fondre. Oh dear.

Watched the second half of this game on BT this morning. Think both red cards were correct. The second one in particular once you put your hands around the opponents neck he was bound to go. Before he put his hands up it would've just been a yellow each.

The other one was a deserved yellow too which resulted in the red. Didn't see his first yellow card but nowhere near the ball and on the back of someone's ankle. Pretty painfull.

He hardly touched him - clipped his heel at best. Never a yellow. Also on the second red card the Sydney player was the head aggressor but the ref deemed it the other way. When he issued the red card he pointed to his forehead and no mention of "hands around the neck" which was handbags.

I'm another that didn't see a great deal wrong with that.

The second yellow was fine given the boot on the ankle. The head-butt was minimal but the ref can only give what he sees.

The two pens looked to be for hand-ball and I'm assuming were checked by VAR?

From what I could see on the butting incident the only reason the Wellington player grabs his neck is because the Sydney player is thrusting his head into his opponent's head very aggressively. Both should have had a red card. I also agree the second yellow was soft but the penalties were probably right although the first one was a bit unlucky. Still the result went your way

Think you need to get the blinkers off. Most cases it should be a yellow for that kind of challenge. It's definitely not a 'never a yellow' category. It's just completely unnecessary from him. I can accept debatable depending on your ref but you saying that shows you have no interest in a balanced view.

I don't care what he pointed to. Once you touch someone in the neck / face area - violent conduct comes into play. The VAR said it was a red and he gave it as a red. If you want to whine about it then you should maybe complain that he wasn't asked to go look at it on the TV.

The offside goal was that close it could've been given. Notice you don't make a comment on that because the decision went in your favour.

Just shows you that we can disagree on incidents despite bias. I have no bias at all and thought nothing in that second yellow. And the ref sent the guy off for a head-but not hands around the neck. He was correct though but the Sydney player should also have gone as well.
