How’s this government bounty gonna be payed for ? A solution

I’m no economist but been on the planet long enough to know you don’t get anything for nothing . It’s certainly noble of the he govt but one they couldn’t desist from otherwise we’d have suffered riots and looting .

BUT and that’s why I make it a large but , it is going to have to be paid for . Once this passes I would expect taxes rises in , NI , VAT and pay rises to pay for it . God forbid the NHS will suffer as there’ll be a riot and it would be politically suicidal .I for one hope they scrap HS2 and foreign aid so we lick our own wounds . Ordinarily we’d incur this burden ,

How about this ..

Another remedial option albeit long term ( this is where I’m sharpening my knives ) would be to turn on the scum who have been a thorn in our side causing extra burden on public services ( the b***ds robbing and grieving people like the scum who smashed car windows of NHS staff in JCUH ) who have always been surrounded by benefits and show them how the rest of us have to live and work .

Work a word they don’t understand .

They’re not suffering right now as if anything they’re having a whale of a time . They don’t comprehend normality or order of any kind . They just do what they want , when they want and **** us idiots who house, feed and attempt to educate them . Oh and supply their 50 inch telly and their trainees and 40 fags a day .

I’d give them such a shakedown and chain gang them into such things on a 5 day week as cleaning becks , cutting park grass and sweeping all the broken glass off cycle paths . They’re easy to identify as all public sector employees could easily name them . Ask any teacher , firefighter , police officer etc who they are and they’d all happily tell you .

Get them on fire stations washing the appliances , washing ambulances , the list is endless . I think you get my drift , as this is the opportunity to address a lot of anomaly’s in society . When it’s over and it will be .......... RIGHT NOW FOR YOU LOT .

Cool so teachers and firefighters are now our legal system, neat idea.[/

Certainly not but the existing legal system is failing . In the rare instance they are caught the snowflakes and counsel who try and get only a community order because of their difficult beginnings or loss of a dad ( even though he never met him ) and their overwhelming shame and remorse . Only for the gazette picturing them on the front page leaving court in a hoody , Tracky bottoms tucked into their socks and thumbs in the air with a huge grin and wink expressing a look of ( got you all again ). Then spending the night king of his council estate .

Borobarmy, I am convinced by your indepth study of the matter.

Unfortunately the reform wont happen.
We now have the third generation of lay abouts. Yes, that's mam, dad, nana and grandad who have done nothing for the country so unfortunately the kids know no different.
In theory it would be great if you earned your benefits, you know, paying the state for your money but as pointed out above, you would need chain gangs (I'm shaking it boss) to get them to do anything.
They don't have self respect and motivation or community pride.
Remember. IT IS NOT THE KIDS FAULT.
That's why it would be impossible to implement.

Oh, and I think taxes and interest rates will stay low for a very long time.

Borobarmy there is so much wrong on both your posts. Granted we have problems with many parts of society including those on your chain gang. But they are a small proportion of the population it just that empty vessels make most noise. I agree that it seems that sometimes the courts fail us in sentencing some of the serial offenders but to call the people defending them "scum counsel" is way out of order. There is many reasons why these people are still walking the streets but someone just doing the job he is employed for is not the main one.

‘ Ow mate we’re like rock hard lads us eh gadge ‘

Spot on Borobarmy 👍
I would love that to happen, the cowardly, vile, pond life who will never achieve anything in their life should also wear yellow overalls as a sign of being a coward when the country needed everyone to pull together
It woukdnt happen because the doogooders of this world will put an arm round those vile lot & say but they've suffered blah, blah, blah

Bezoz is £4.3 billion richer today than he was at the start of the year. I'm sure he and those who don't need their wealth to have the most luxurious lifestyles will help us all out. Just like the 500,000 helping out the NHS for nothing.

You would like to think so bear, don't hold your breath though

We now have the third generation of lay abouts.

This has been demonstrated to be false, or at least greatly exaggerated. A study carried out in Glasgow and Middlesbrough went in search of these families; these generations of shirkers, and concluded that they are very few in number. Most people want to work.

Ignoring all the populist nonsense in the OP, the way in which the country will pay for this has already been mentioned. We will pay slightly higher taxes than would otherwise have been the case.

The Government is going to borrow the money required, which will be at very low rates of interest. Collectively, we will need to service those debt payments on an annual basis. If we can return to something like normal levels of economic activity and growth (which is the entire point of these interventions) then we will hardly notice that at all.

Also, once inflation has worked its impact, in 30 years’ time when we’re finally paying this off, the amount borrowed won’t even sound that high. A bit like when you first buy a house and the mortgage seems enormous but, by the time you come to pay it off, young people can’t believe you were able to buy a house for that amount.

National insurance for pensioners and end of triple lock. Increased NI for self employed. 2p on income tax. And corporation tax down to 5% as lowering it will increase tax take.

Not sure I’d agree with cutting corporation tax. This idea that cutting taxes can lead to increased revenues is based on the Laffer Curve, which was discredited decades ago but is still used by right wing politicians to justify their idealogical approach.

The problem with it is that you don’t know whether you’re on the up slope or the down slope of the curve. If you’re on the down slope (i.e. past the point of maximum revenue) then cutting taxes could indeed result in increased revenue. If you’re still on the up slope though, then there’s a direct relationship between the two, so cutting taxes reduces tax revenue.

Even the Tories had to admit recently that scrapping their proposed 2% cut to corporation tax would result in an additional £6bn in revenue.
