Hot tubs

OK I get the jokes, but I'm getting too old to be thinking about a sex pool.
I am thinking about a family investment. Been looking at 6 person's tubs, me the missus, son and his missus, with other family-friends on occasions.

I am looking at a total spend of about £1500 that's for the tub and possible wigwam gazebo to go round, we have a place for it to go so no expense for that as far as I can see.

Anyone get any recommendations or advice?

Once thing I would say is consider your leccy bill.

I have a mate with one, smaller than what you are saying and it takes A LOT to run. You basically have to keep the heater on all the time because that's more efficient than letting it go cold and heating it up. Either way it uses A LOT of energy.

Had one of the lazy spa ones and it was rubbish, constantly broke down until I eventually just got rid, if you can afford to its worth spending a bit extra on a proper one that will last.

I was in the tub business for quite a while.
£1500 is not going to scratch the surface.
If that is your limit do not bother.
As a minimum allow £4,000 and that is after extensive research and securing a good deal.
Disregard the inflatables, ensure you have a solid and level base and, as mentioned, be prepared for your leccy bill to rocket.
BTW your water bill will also take a hit as regular draining and re-filling is essential.

Have you never been in a public swimming baths?
I have and it didn't cost me £1500 to do so - I am also choosy on which baths I will go in.

I use to work for Connexions and take young people out on trips. A regular trip was to 'Wet and Wild' in North Shields and we were expected to go in the pool with the young people to supervise their behaviour - I never. You would need your bumps feeling to even consider going in this water.

Wouldnt have let the dog in the water at wet and wild, the place was absolutely grim

Hot tubs are fine as long as you look after them properly, shower before going in and change the water regularly

I would just consider how much you really want it. Everyone i know who got one used it very infrequently once the novelty wore off. It's a nice thing on holiday somewhere, or with nice views etc, but just in a back garden isn't quite the same.
Also i've been invited to people's houses where they've said "bring swimming stuff for the hot tub" and everyone just pretends they've forogtten as they don't want to get involved in a creepy swimwear situation.....maybe my social circle are a bit reserved though.

They're certainly the in thing at the moment, the neighbours here have all bought them recently.

I've had a go and not keen, similar with jacuzzis.

I'd sooner have a decent fire pit to sit round.

you are looking 2-3 quid a day to run, also it is not a case of filling with water and heating it. you will need dip tests, chlorine tabs, ph plus, ph minus, foam remover, bicarb for alkalinity, drinks holder for the side. most can be bought from the range or amazon. they are quite loud when the air jets are on. bloody good fun though after a hard day at work (home) with a few bottles of beer (y)(y)(y)

Another one for the fire pit. A friend of mine has used an old washing machine drum and an old metal table frame to make his. Locks out enough heat to keep us warm in the winter. Neighbors thought we were mad last December when we were drinking in the garden at 9pm with the outside temp at 0°c

Eee, It were all swimming pool advice on the board in the good old days of Premier League and Europe.
