Despite it not being the most popular sport on here it did represent one of Team Gbs better medal chances. Bronze in team and individual is OK but I think we would have been expecting more.

That being said congratulation to Charlotte Dujardin, who is now Britains most successful female olympian. Not a bad feat!

How much better could we have been expected to do? I don't know much about the sport other than the bit where they practice going through a minefield then whack-a-mole, but I thought the Germans were in a different league?

I don't think the team event was expected to be any more successful especially not with Germany's prowess and strength in depth. I imagine Dujardin would have wanted individual gold though. Still a good haul at the end of the day.

It was hard to win gold as Charlotte was on new younger horse who is less experienced, trained less and been transported to other side of world. Bronze good result especially when the Germans are market leaders in the sport
