HOOF 31 January 2021: 12 Day Quiz - DAY 13 -TIE BREAK RESULTS - Guess Erimus74's favourite Boro footballers

Another suggestion. Why don't you vary the questions. For eg - what will be the first letter of the first sentence uttered in this evenings Coronation St ( or any programme to be honest).

This is just like the beginning of the season. Where they publish the table before any matches have been played. If only we could go back to that point in the championship this season. Who knows....

Just under another 4 hours for more to join this 12 day daily quiz.

Closing time is 12:00 noon today UK time (GMT+1), 13:00 Spanish time (GMT+2) and 08:00 New York time (GMT-4). (I hope that is right.)

This will be the standard closing time each day. As long as Erimus74 is available to publish his answer at Middlesbrough dinner time on each day.

FYI - I have decided to bounce around the positions rather than count 1 to 12. To make things a little more interesting. I will announce the next position later today (if only I was allowed to say that to the missus).

Teach me not to read things properly. If it's not Jim Platt the world really has gone mad.

That sounds an interesting period for you,and i bet you have a few stories from that time.(pun not intended).

I'm sure you been asked many times but whereabouts are you over there? Sister used to live in Santander(great memories) and niece lives in Seville presently, think she's just been laid off unfortunately. cheers utb
Reuters was a great place to work in the late 80s and the early 90s. Got a bit more serious in the late 90s through to the early 2000s.

My main job over the years was associated with the development and maintenance of a global network. Capable of delivering share prices, money rates, news and other data from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world in less than a second. For hundreds of thousands of users. With millions of data items a day. From the 1980s onwards.

I also spent a couple of years on the development and maintenance of editorial production systems for the journos. Trying to implement a unified worldwide system. As different parts of the world had different editorial production networks. That is where I got closer to working with the journos. They hated computer system. As they used to have to tag stories with metadata as well as write the stories. So the stories got classified correctly. It was strange. It felt like some of them needed a recording of guns going off playing in the background. To get them in the mood to work when they had come back to a "desk job".

You might guess what part of Spain from my avatar. The province of Almería. I am a season ticket holder here. Living about 40 minutes drive west of the ground. Moved out here in 2004.

Just spat coffee all over my keyboard !

Apologies to Erimus74 for keeping him tied up.

To make things easier for Erimus74 here is a better way of working.

I will keep the 12:00 UK deadline every day. As soon as I have collated the results I will publish the next question. I will publish my answer straight away. Then collect the answer from Erimus 74 via a private message. I will keep that information private until the deadline the next day. That keeps thing more flexible for Erimus74.

Here are the Day 1 results. Well done to everyone who guessed Jim Platt.

I will announce the day 2 question shortly as a continuation of this thread.

OK. Here is the question for day 2.... Closing date is Saturday 4 April. Closing time is 12:00 noon UK time.

Who is Erimus74's best number 8?

They did not have to have worn the number 8.

They just had to play in that position. For oldies this means inside right. For younger people this means right footed or sided attacking midfielder.

As mentioned earlier I will go first. Then I will ask Erimus74 to send me a private message with his answer. I will publish the results and question 3 tomorrow around Middlesbrough dinner time.

My choice is: Osvaldo Giroldo Júnior

I have started a private conversation with Erimus74 (to ask him the question).

I am guessing this might be the first time he has had a private conversation on here. Or maybe he is chatting away in private regularly. I have no idea.

No doubt I will find out in due course.

Interesting question, especially as he does not have to have worn the number 8. I would not particularly class juninho as an inside right personally, more a playmaker or no10. I am gonna hope he will pick David Mills and, he actually wore the number 8 shirt regularly to boot.

Am I right to assume this is not the right winger?
You are right. Number 7 is normally the old school right winger ( I believe).

This ambiguity about old player numbers/positions add a bit of fun. My understanding (from my dad) is that an inside right used to be an attacking right sided midfielder. Maybe Erimus74 will see it differently. We will find out tomorrow.

SPOILER ALERT - I am planning to use the number 10 as perhaps a modern day number 10 (or an attacking left sided/footed player or an attacking left sided midfielder).
