I have been on that ship also, alas only for a beer whilst in harbour. My host, and friend who I was staying with prior to our game at Southampton, sadly lost his life.

Have met the Commodore a few times now over the years, first time when he was CO of Marlborough in the 90s. He's a bit of a legend for a few reasons. (and as mad as a box of wasps)

An occasional drinking buddy of mine at that time, was aboard. Thankfully he too was ok. Big respect to all who were serving at that time or indeed have served at any time. May those less fortunate RIP
