Higgy - “I regret not punching Aitor”.

No because they wanted to do it for themselves. Ben Gibson's words.

I am sure most players in football want to do it for themselves but if they are all against the manager there is a drop off in performance. I think Gibson still loves Karanka. Same as Leadbitter, Clayton and Friend and probably 1 or 2 more.

No player is going to down tools when they're so close to their big pay day.

Did he attain perfection when he walked out on the club mid season? His tenure isn't quite black and white for me. He did very well for a season and half to two seasons. He's not everyone's cup of tea and i think there's plenty of evidence in the split of the fan base to demonstrate that.
Well, not quite history. Higgy's claim is that Aitor told Bausor Higgy punched him during the handbags, when he didn't. Higgy now says he regrets not punching him because the outcome was the same and Aitor deserved it. Obviously only one side of the story.

Very different to the 'he is my friend' stuff Karanka said to the press the day after they parted ways though.

Mmmm, I wonder who really would have won if it came to fisticuffs.
The Quiet, taller, leaner, greater reach And probably fitter Karanka backed up by Leo the Lion hearted or a shorter, unfit and mouthy scouser with ‘Angelo Dundee’ Slaven as his ‘cuts’man ?

I think there's no doubt that the Karanaka/Leo combo would win that fight. Higgy and Bernie weren't exactly hardmen

Higgy's a street fighter. Karanka... I've seen more skin on a rice pudding!
I agree! Higgy’s a working class lad from Liverpool probably with a chip on his shoulder. Karanka is shorter than me and probably a good two stone lighter, and I wouldn’t fight Higgy.

EDIT - Karanka is exactly my height but only 0.5-0.75 stone lighter. (Of pure muscle I might add).😬

I have a vague memory of Higgy getting a red for throwing a punch? Anyone know/remember if he did?

I remember Ince throwing a particularly pathetic right at Niall Quinn (and missing) and of course there was Jeremy "The Hit Man" Aliadiere nearly killing poor little Javier Mascherano...

Who was our last player to get sent off for throwing a punch?

Karanka did well during his time with us but it's interesting to see how many people are using that to defend what is essentially bullying of staff. If he was the manager of another team and we witnessed that, we'd all be calling him out as an asrehole but because we won promotion, it was the victim's fault? Have a word.

I remember Johnny Hendrie getting very wound up in that friendly against Inter. Not sure he threw a punch, but he was very close to doing.

I'm not sure you can make the leap to say anyone was being bullied

I'm not convinced. Centre backs are pretty tough generally by nature, but then i suppose fighting is a different thing.
