Heworth/Metro

Afternoon all!
I haven't driven into Necastle for years and years - Is Heworth ok to park at? There used to be a long stay there - does anybody know if there will be plenty of places or does it get crowded?

Depends what time of day it is, I suppose. Gateshead is a bus-free town at the moment, so it may be busier than usual on weekdays if people park there and get the Metro to work in town.

Over the road from St James park you can street park for £1 an hour (£2.20 in the city city centre ones!)

Was in sunderland yesterday and they were doing free after 3 like it used to be in the Boro

went last week, you get to the traffic lights and turn right up a small road, then immediately left and down the hill into the car park.

price to park was ok, but the price of the Metro has shot up from what i remember. Family of 4 didnt see much change from £15... I wont be parking their again for a while

the Metro was rammed going into the city (even 2pm on a saturday) but was a bit quieter on the way back (5pm.)

I used to work up there on Leazes Park Rd in the 90s and would always go in via Redhugh Bridge - I wouldn't have much of a clue these days so thought the A19 might be the safer option

Edit: Forgot to say: I would prefer to use A19 after going up to the Metro Centre: OMFG the traffic and Roadworks on the bypass was awful: It seems to have been that way for years!!

Used it a few months ago when I drove up to spend a couple of nights in Newcastle. Decent option but if you add the price of the metro ticket on it didn’t work out much cheaper than parking in the city centre.

You could have got secure parking in the city centre for a lot less than that.
