Into the Christmas season with no real idea if the new Covid variant will be deadly or not. What we do know is that Boffle will not impose a lockdown no matter what, because his party won’t let him. Super.

Prof Whitty also urged "really serious caution" over reports a reduction in hospitalisations was being seen in cases of Omicron in South Africa.
He said the threat of the NHS being overwhelmed was very serious because of the "absolutely phenomenal pace" at which Omicron was spreading.
"I am afraid there will be an increasing number of Omicron patients going into the NHS, going into hospital, going into intensive cares," he said. "That will begin to become apparent, in my view, fairly soon after Christmas."
 
I think we should have some form of 'fire break' / lockdown whatever you want to call it - it's stupid that people can meet family for 1 day and make the situation far worse in the long run

I'm a catholic, so Christmas is obviously an important day

But I feel Boris is trying to keep Christmas open, so the Papers / Media don't run headlines that he's 'cancelled Christmas'

Yep that’s exactly right he had been hamstrung by the Tory right from the get go.

If you want to personally lockdown then you can. All you are doing is delaying the inevitable.
 
Nothing will change for me, same personal situation and measures I've had since day one of the pandemic.
Hopefully people are responsible and we don't see the worst case scenario of several hundred thousand cases after Christmas.

Are we close to this?
There is currently 7,673 in hospital.
I know there is a lag between infection and hospitalisation but the numbers were as high as 39,254 in hospital on 18th January this year and now we are double jabbed and the majority of the vulnerable have boosters which should protect against serious illness shouldn't it?
 
I'll be spending Xmas day as normal. I'll more than likely be off work till April if people get their way so I'll be using the day to spend time with family.

I wish that I could just mess about and have a laugh with everyone on here like I can with you mate. Some of them take this place far too seriously. But I do still want that money. And flouncing won't help. The bumfaced lads already have your scent. There aren't too many blokes around here who stink of Herons so they'll find you wherever you try to hide.
