Just reading that the BBC used the Met Office for 94 years until forced to go out to tender. It then went with Meteo Group who were then acquired by. a venture capitalist outfit based in Switzerland, TBG AG.

Basically the Tory government making sure public money goes into wealthy pockets, as per usual.
 
I'm leaving for Manchester soon. Picking kids up from the Airport. Hi vis, shovel, thermos and blanky in the car.

I'm thinking of getting a bungalow. The roofs are easier to repair.

Living near a Bedale I had a leak last year near a ridge tile. I got onto 4 roofers before I found one who fixed the problem. He's probably over 70, but a master at roofing.
The first 3 hadn't got a clue. One parged a dodgy looking tile, charged me , but the problem was nowhere near where he worked. The others just had no idea where to start but they were advertising in the local trade mags.
 
Neighbours have just lost a couple of tiles on their lower roof

It`s the sustained gusts that are causing the damage here, they are lasting for a good 20 - 30 seconds at a time

Tree out our back is wanging around a goodun
