Sods law that I need to print things for tomorrow morning and this happens. I haven't printed anything since I changed my ISP a week ago and so I thought that must be the issue so I reinstalled the printer (Canon MG3500) software from CD but I've got the same message...., tried various links through google but none of them have given a solution

Well first up, and it's an obvious one, is your printer on your WiFi? If it is, and you are using windows plug and play should discover the printer.

For tomorrow dig out your printer cable and wire your connecting to your computer

I had an issue and was something to do with Youfibre didn't support the HP printer on Network - I've plugged mine in ever since.
Sorry, I can't remember the exact reason

You're going to think I'm taking the pi55 here but honestly I'm not - this happens to me occasionally with my Canon printer.

Set the documents to print so that it's in the print queue, then turn the printer on and off again - mine usually starts printing the document when it reconnects

I spend most of my life fixing these sort of things (hence why I drink so much)

as others have said - the most common thing, from experience, is that you may not have changed the wifi settings on the printer from the old isp's router to the new wifi code on the new router?

I'm not a massive fan of Canon printers, quite awkward menu system to change settings

Most common errors are with Wi-Fi though — make sure your Wi-Fi network is synced between the printer and computer.

well i tried the usb cable solution - same result! Then tried Malaguena's idea - same result! So I switched laptop and printer off and restarted both with usb connection and the printer started churning out everything in the queue. Result but not sure which suggestion worked so thanks guys - Unfortunately halfway through what I needed the black ink ran out so it's an early morning trip to find some ......

I have had numerous wireless printers over the years and they never just work often get the printer offline message, normally resolves itself by me turning things on and off ;) I worked as software engineer for 30 years so should be a bit computer savvy but have no idea what the printer is doing most of the time :)

When you press print Make sure your printer is on network/wireless version and not normal (cable)

printers are money grabbing barstewards. don't have one, anything u need printing email it to a rich friend or relative to print ;-)
tbf, fortunately now there are very few times that you actually need to use the printer as most things are available virtually on your phone or whatever, so it could be months before you need to use it again but 9 time out 10 it won't just work lol

First rule in IT if anything suddenly stops working…. POWERCYCLE

Fixes most problems

I gave up using printers about 10 years ago seen as we now live in a digital age.

We have one, I don't use it but I spend a fair bit of time sorting my wifes wifi connection to the printer. They are a waste of money unless you buy a very good one.
