Heckingbottom-Post Luton reaction (SUTV) [V-03:36]

Their heads have gone.
I'm not even worried about sheff utd. any more. I'm more concerned about Blackburn and/or Luton taking 2nd spot from us.
Utd are in such a bad place right now. Fans turning against the manager and a few of their underperforming players. When you loose a points lead like they have it is so so difficult to all of a sudden turn it around.

Only small concern is teams doing a 'reset' during the (awfully timed) International break. Hope we keep our momentum.
So excited for these last games though.

I'm almost inclined to agree. Blackburn and Luton definitely breathing down our own necks and hoping they can sneak their way into the race for automatic promotion. We need to win our next two games to go into the break on a real high and close the gap on Sheff U to at least a point (they play in the FA cup next weekend), then the run in begins away to Huddersfield

Saw on FB that when Carrick took over Sheffield United were 9 points ahead & Burnley 12. The gaps are now 4 and 17.

So I wonder if it is not so much the pressure of being chased but the fact that Burnley have moved away & turned it into a 1 horse race, they've lost that edge of 'we're battling for the title' and not refocused fast enough on ensuring promotion to prevent us/others from gaining on them & almost turning it into a close race.

You can see from the most recent performance in the FA Cup that they can still perform when they are all psyched up for it, although arguably the 3-3 draw with Wrexham in the FA Cup was the 1st crack in the facade of their relative invincibility, 22 points from 24 before Wrexham, 10 from 24 after it.

At one point in our climb, we were 15 points behind the Blades (y)

We've picked up 2 more points from our last 6 than Blackburn have from theirs, and 5 more than Luton have from theirs.

The gap to 4th place was 2 points before the weekend and it's 3 now.

Of course we have to keep winning, but we are pulling away, not getting caught.

We have done amazingly well and full credit to everyone at Boro - while at the same time they have absolutely fallen apart and gifted us the chance to catch them up.

And that feels largely down to him. I’ve said before that he wont be their manager come October at the latest whatever happens this season
