I go to the gym and have done pretty much all my life. But lately I have been walking 10 miles almost everyday on top. I've gone from 20 stone almost to 18 stone in a couple of months, paired this with tracking my calories and eating right. Only had 2 drinks of alcohol since early December. My overall health and mental state has improved massively, I can't believe I'm this late to the walking party.
Get out and walk people its unreal!!!

Well done! It is quite hard to walk 10 miles every day though if you have a full time job etc. Surely it takes at least 3 hours?

I lost two stone walking during lockdown.

Live alone, fk all else to do so just used to walk. Discovered public footpaths and nature reserves near my house that I never knew existed.

Sadly got ill, couldn’t go out, put it all back on.

But yes recommend walking.

A day without a walk is a wasted day in my view. I use the OS maps app and keep a record of all my walks and make sure my minimum is 100 miles in the previous 30 days at any given time. In practice because you can’t walk every day that means 5 miles most days. 10 miles a day is a big ask, well done.

I was sorting clothes out to put in a charity bag and came across all my walking kit that is just gathering dust at the moment. When I was running the DofE in the school, I was always out doing reccies of walks the students would do or walking for my own pleasure.

I need to get up off my backside, put the excuses away and get out walking. Although I haven't gained too much weight, I am getting a bit of a kite on me. It is due to picking at snacks and eating biscuits'

When out walking, I also use OS Maps App, but I also love a paper map and a compass and spent hours showing the students how to use both together.

I try to walk or swim every day. Really enjoy an evening walk when a match is on. Especially PL or CL. I put my headphones on and listen to BBC 5live or TalkSport. Before I know it I’ve walked over an hour.

Keep up the good work everyone. UTB.

I've just got back into walking after a few health issues, and have been surprised how quickly a bit of noticeable fitness can be achieved - could feel a difference after just a week. I'm only walking between 2 to 5 miles a day, but try and incorporate a hill and walk at a bit of a pace - all just from my front door and on urban pavements. a great chance to listen to podcasts on headphones. I use the komoot app, which is excellent.

I try to walk about 10000 steps a day which is maybe 5 miles, good job doing 10 a day but I would never be able to fit it in time wise.

I work from home and realised I was at a point where I was doing about 1000 steps a day.

Wasn't necessarily through laziness (was a bit) but I just didn't get the steps in through the day as there was nothing forcing me to. No walk to and from the car park, no walking around the office etc.

Since the start of January I have been going out twice a day and managed to clock up 100km in January which is a massive increase for me.

I put my headphones in and listen to a book on Audible - currently got about an hour left of Fellowship Of The Ring narrated by Andy Serkis.

Like Acklam said above, I am surprised how quickly I noticed a difference. I've even started going on hikes on a weekend and getting in a few hills and trig points.

I walk 5-6 miles everyday. I really enjoy it, it’s a great way to keep trim and I find I’m able to think about things and get things straight in my own mind.
I like the solitude and the fresh air.
For me it’s the best form of exercise you can do, it’s free and most people can do it.
Well done with shedding the pounds marra and booze is no good for anybody!

I found the answer if you are short of time.

Take the car, although I am yet to see any significant weight loss or fitness gain :-)
