' He turned us down last year, Fu** him'

I think warnock thought he was too young. 6 months later considered it again, but Fulham showed interest and their portuguese speaking manager formed a better relationship with him, so that was the deciding factor in the end
No, he thought he would take too long to settle into the English game, he gave a thumbs down to the transfer and we brought in the likes of NML and Bolasie.

he definitely talked about his age, being very young to travel around the world. It's his age and settling into our culture and game.

Life moves on and circumstances change.
He didn't say he wouldn't come here, he preferred a better chance of promotion and life in London where a foreigner can settle easier.

I'd hope we sign two strikers and borrow only one.
Gyokeres and Riis
Muniz or Armstrong

Absolutely no phrase from our supporters does my head in more than that.
It's quite a common theme when we go after a long term target who decided to try elsewhere before we go in for them again, the latest being Rodrigo Muniz.

People need to realise, he's a young lad from Brazil, who was offered the chance to play in London, with parachute payment wages, in a squad very much capable of winning promotion & a manager who spoke his language.
It was that or, Here with Warnock using his translator app and a squad that was so unbalanced it's unreal.

He probably did the right move for him, he got success, he got the London life and he got the money, He also scored 5 goals on very few minutes because he had an absolute machine in front of him.

If he's ready to come now, I say let's do it! He can make up for lost time in an attacking system and get us promotion this year instead!
Agree, it's just an incredibly childish outlook.

agreed, that's important moving forward.

Strikers are the most expensive, a loan CF is investing in someone elses asset. We need to invest in OUR assets as much as we can.

So we must buy one striker, and get some value from him.

Ideally if we loan Muniz. He'll do well, but not Mitrovich well. We go up, Fulham go down, and we sign him for a reasonable fee of about 10-12m

It was definitely us that turned down Muniz.. not the other way around. I'm a huge fan of Warnock, thought he was absolutely brilliant.. but he got that one wrong I'm afraid. Hindsight is a wonderful thing tho

It definitely wasn't.
Warnock might have turned down the opportunity to sign him in January 2021, but we spent a lot of time trying to sign him last summer, we repeatedly offered more than Fulham were offering financially and Flamengo wanted to sell to us.

But Muniz chose Fulham because he preferred them, not because Warnock vetoed signing him again.

Can't say I blame Muniz for that at all, but we did go all out to try and sign him.

The club who turned you down.. or the club that is showing direct interest. Not much in it tbh and it will have been a contributing factor.

We showed direct interest.

The contributing factors will have been that Fulham were a better team in a better place and their manager spoke the same language.

We turned him down in January

Warnock might have turned down the opportunity to sign him when he was highlighted by the scouting team.
If that's the player Warnock was alluding to, which we don't.

At no point will Muniz have been on the phone to Middlesbrough asking to be signed, and we weren't in negotiations to sign him either, that's not turning somebody down.

We then spent weeks trying to sign him in the summer, with Bausor actually flying out to negotiate in person, offered more money than Fulham and tried our best to convince him.

I suspect he was that player, it certainly fits time wise, age-wise, location-wise and allusions from manager comments.

If that's correct, then we will have been in conversation with his agent, and with his club at that time. That's why I'm not surprised we're linked again, we will have a relationship of sorts with his team. He wants game time now, knows he won't get it next season, so this is a good route for him.

I've noticed under Wilder there are a lot of leaks of information on players that seem to be true, so I don't doubt this one for a moment.
