Hayfever

I've been a sufferer since a child (I'm old now), but the last ten years or so I've actually got better
Cant pin down why but two out of three years I don't have any symptoms. Perfectly clear, and then a nightmare. Obviously to do with crops or something that are planted that year

I spent a summer in America about 15 years ago (NY, San Fran and Portland) And then a year in Spain. Not a sign of it. Came back the year after I returned

I have 3 kids, first two no symptoms, third one gets it real bad. So bad to stop him working sometimes. Anyway, it's a psser!

Lots of people swear by puttimg Vaseline around your nose and eyes. The idea is it will trap and absorb the pollen before you get a chance to breathe it in.

This morning it's brutal, it's like I'm ******* out of my nose

Seems like all that pollen got out yesterday in that wind, then got taken up high by the heat, and now it's cooled it's all come back down, and into my house. Not sure if there's any truth in that, but it's what I'm going with.

Started suffering when I was 32 years old. Started with the off the shelf tablets which worked for a while, swapped types - worked for a while. Three years ago was a nightmare and nothing was working so went to the GP. I've now taken Fenofexadine , nasal sprays and eye drops on prescription and it's been a god send - any symptoms have been mild over the time. You can now get Fenofexdine over the counter - it's called Allevia. Well worth a try.
I get fexofenadine on prescription. You can’t stop taking them though, and it’s not a case of taking one when you feel the symptoms coming on, you need to take one everyday. The GP said Valentine’s Day to Halloween is a good guide.

The pollen is different in the US (and other countries). I used to warm with an Maerican lad and he suffered terribly over here, to the point where he moved his British wife and family back home because he couldn’t cope with it.

Had it really bad as a kid, and up until about 6 years ago. Then it seemed to disappear. Back with a vengeance last couple of weeks so I've gone to my usual fixes. Loratidine tablets, damp flannel on my face and staying inside. It's why I prefer Autumn/winter and can't stand the summer. Unless you suffer with it, it's difficult to understand how draining it can be.

Get it, not as bad as many of you, but have suffered the last week. Fortunately I’m out in Lanzarote for a couple of weeks, no pollen, no plants really! 24 hours in and loads less snotty already. Eyes are still icky, but it’s the sand/ dust here.

Used to suffer terribly as a child , best thing I ever did was start wearing contact lenses !! , these last few weeks I,m waking up with a blocked nose and headache , antihistamine does it job during the day

Same as many above.

However, do any of you start sneezing when you've had a couple of pints of heavily hopped beers? I do, and apparently its down to the histamines in the hops.

If I know I'm going to have some speciality beers (that always seemed to be heavily hopped) then I take an additional Ibuprofen and I can enjoy the evening rather than sneezing for England.

I was that bad last night I was contemplating moving back to Redcar. We moved to Middlesbrough from Redcar East about 18 years ago, and before that I never once suffered with hay fever, but it’s now really bad when I get an attack. June and the end of August are the worst for me, so I guess it’s to do with certain types of pollen 😭

The last 5 years I've hardly suffered from it and thought I was over it. But these last few days it's the worst I've ever had it, like others unable to sleep, nose running, coughing and sneezing, went to the cricket on Friday in Durham and my eyes were streaming all day

Borobuzzard - I find it helps if I'm quite close to the coast. The onshore breeze brings pollen-free air from the sea.
Childhoid holidays on a caravan-site near Driffield were a torment at Spring Bank, but when we spent a day at Bridlington my breathing went back to normal and I stopped sneezing.

I was playing golf on Friday in Redcar and the wind was coming off the land. It’s the worst I’ve ever had it.

I have suffered since child hood and like everyone else, has hit hard over the last week. I've combined the above (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Allevia-120-tablets-Fexofenadine-Prescription/dp/B09QQTYJWT?th=1) with an air purifier and feel loads better............until i have to go outside that is!
