Robson was offered the England job. And said no. And regretted it pretty much immediately.David Wheater £10m to Liverpool?
Matthew Bates £10m to Everton?
Hayden Coulson £10m to Newcastle?
Not just limited to our players either..
Bryan Robson to Man Utd?
Aitor Karanka to Real Madrid?
I don’t think the club is under any pressure to sell. It wasn’t expecting to sell rogers.I’m hopeful Hackney will still - he’s a local lad and i think he loves the club and wants to stay and get us up. If McGree goes i think the club will be under less pressure to sell Hayden. Having said that Hackney is the one at the club with the most value though so if a really big offer did come in, say £20m + then I’ve no doubt they’d sell him.
Other than Akpom are OUR assets (minus loans) weaker than last year or the year before? I’m not sure they areI’m not sure about ‘frustrating’ in my opinion the fans should be in outrage about the club cashing in and continually weakening the squad.
It’s one thing understanding the business model but quite another buying into it.
If we follow the likes of Brighton and Brentford we should always remember they are actually in the premier league.
No I don't want to sell him, he's from my home town after all. I really hope he sticks around and becomes the midfield general for years to come playing in a Boro shirt. However money talks, we are running a tight ship and need to get the balance right to keep us moving in the right direction.ffs sounds like you want us to sell him don't want to lose any more of our better players if we can help it
No I agree our squad is generally stronger and Akpom was out of contract and, in my opinion, came good against the odds.Other than Akpom are OUR assets (minus loans) weaker than last year or the year before? I’m not sure they are
FFP is a key part of the game, we have to work the system to our advantage buy low sell high to build up ffp allowance. No I agree our squad is generally stronger and Akpom was out of contract and, in my opinion, came good against the odds.
I was more making a point about posters seemingly being too happy to see our talent getting sold, I suppose I want them to be fans rather than bean counters or FFP experts.
I can imagine Gibson will have a big push on us being in the Premier League for our 150th anniversary.FFP is a key part of the game, we have to work the system to our advantage buy low sell high to build up ffp allowance.
Not only is our squad probably a touch better than a couple of years ago, but, we were on the edge of ffp then, we have a lot of ffp allowance left for the summer and can and will invest
stojanovic
Might as well of set fire to a bundle of cash to be honestOne million bloody pounds we paid for him!
If we can address the striker issue in the summer and perhaps sign O’Brien, who I thought was excellent yesterday, I think we’ll be in a good position.Daniels, Lumley, stojanovic
OR
Dieng, Glover, jones
NOW is better in terms of starter, ability, depth and asset value
Dijksteel, Peltier, Taylor, Bola, Spence
Or
Smith, Dijksteel, Engel, Bangura
NOW is better in terms of ability, then is better in terms of depth and asset value
Fry, hall, Bamba, McNair, wood
Or
Fry, McNair, Lenihan, Clarke, van den berg
NOW is better in terms of starter, ability, depth and asset value
Morsy, Howson, Boyd-munce, payero
Or
Howson, Hackney, Barlaser
THEN is better in terms of depth, NOW is better in asset value
Crooks, jones, McGree, tav
or jones, McGree, azaz, silvers, Gilbert, forss
NOW is better in terms of depth, first team starters and possibly asset value
Akpom, Coburn, Ikpeazu, watmore
Or
Lath, coburn
THEN is better in terms of depth, but the Akpom of 2 1/2 years ago and 18 year old Coburn are no better as starters than lath or Coburn of today
The age of this current squad is better and a good forward and another CDM and we will be better all over the pitch for me
I can’t help thinking that is pretty much the plan to be fair. As long as the price is right, obviously.I know this forum is only our fans chit chatting about the team but it never ceases to amaze me how many posters just assume that any player showing a bit of quality will automatically want to leave or be automatically sold.
Yes the club have certainly got the message out.I can’t help thinking that is pretty much the plan to be fair. As long as the price is right, obviously.
We don’t have to sell more than we buy every year. It doesn’t work like that, we just have to be within ffp within any given 3 year window. I suspect this summer will be a negative transferWe probably have to sell a bit more than we buy every season now, but we have already made our Summer sale in Rogers and the Crooks money is available to spend in the Summer without selling anyone.
As said if a top half Premier League club bids £25m plus add ons - the players head could be turned and we can't stop others making big/massive bids for him. Thats a problem for the vast majority of Championship teams.
