If it's a big club he'll be nowhere near the starting 11 anyway. I'm sure he could nurse his injury watching on from the stands every week.

Call me a cynic but if any of the top 6 sign him it's a European squad numbers play + occasional forays in cup matches.

I don't know this as fact, but I've heard he's doing his medicals/recovering with Nottingham, not us - which usually means it's long term, not short term.

The fact he’s been out for around 11 weeks suggests it’s long time too tbf

Not the same situation at all.
Chuba missed a few games at the beginning of the season, not loads in the middle of an attempted play-off charge. As it turned out Chuba was actually injured anyway.

If we are resting Hackney for a big chunk of games to protect him before a January transfer I reckon that will be the first time ever it has happened.
If we have been promised something like £40m you can't blame them though
