Hayden Hackney - Football Writers Young Player of the Year

Brilliant news, well done lad good news for other aspiring young players at the club or potentially joining us

Was just thinking the other day, I wonder what Wilder would have made of our recruitment in the summer with all those development players coming in…

Especially after the start we had and some of the players struggling

Wilder would be convinced he was right.

We’re only where we are because Carrick can develop players. Wilder can’t and so those development players would be no better than when they arrived.

And Wilder would say it was their fault, not his.

The success of Hackney makes me wonder what might've been for Connor Malley.
If you remember around 20-21 he was very highly rated, he was seen as the next big star from the u21s, and better than Hackney.
He played a home game vs Sheff Wed and was the best player on the pitch. He played again away to Rotherham and did very well. Then he just disappeared from the squad and never played for us again. He didn't have a Leo Percovich and Michael Carrick that believed in him.
Now he plays for Sligo Rovers in Ireland.

Was Connor the young lad who started at the FAC reply @ Spurs in January 2000?

Hackney should have walked the North East Award - We are a different team when he plays.

Jack Clarke is 23 - young to me is 21 or under during some of 2023.
