Harry Pearson's birthday

I've just read the chapter covering the Esh Winning v Easington Colliery game from 2 years ago in his book, The Farther Corner, it was Harry's birthday (no age given).

During the chapter he covers Wilf's appreciation of George Camsell and others, brilliantly recounted.

If anybody hasn't read this or the Far Corner they're both excellent books. If they don't get you to a Northern League game, nothing will.

Hope he's celebrating with a Boro win tonight.

Harry has never driven. But public transport seems to be as endless a source of material for Harry as standing on a Northern League terrace - the same applies to the guy I always think of his young protege, Daniel Gray.

Yep, lot to be said for public transport. The poet Ian McMillan has never driven either - well worth following on twitter for his thoughts, gathered everyday on his early morning stroll.

Had exactly the same thoughts when I read The Farther Corner - the book would be half as long without tales of Durham Bus Station and the various characters he meets or sees on Public transport.

Is that this/our Harry Pearson chronicling the Boro/Brum game in March edition of WSC ?
Yes, Harry reporting on the empty stadium. Photos by Boro fan and EFL photographer, Paul Thompson. They worked together on a Boro book from Middlesbrough Supporters South in the past, together with Tim Hetherington - The First Thirty Years Are The Worst.

Holgate Corner - note the floodlight was in the middle of the stand at this end.
I could imagine Harry Pearson standing watching from the back and at a jaunty angle to the pitch, thus capturing the match at a jaunty angle.

I used to stand in front of that floodlight . Every time I stood there I wanted to finish off painting that top edge of the side of the South Stand as it stuck out like a sore thumb . 😡
