It is strange legal system that allows for an appeal to nullify the conviction and in the eyes of the law he is now strictly speaking innocent again until convicted. I suppose Southgate can now reinstate him into the England squad too.

Yes - weird one that
In the end it could well be who does the judge believe in the Team Maguire v Team Police recollection of events.
Can’t help thinking he has been given a way out by apologising for his behaviour without specifying exactly what it was.
