Hackney suspended Saturday

I thought Hackney looked just a little leggy last night.
They had a counter first half and crooks sprinted past him to try and get back.
We could definitely do without him being suspended for Saturday with the squad so skinny, but it maybe a good timing in hindsight.
 
He will be a big miss. Probably our most important player now. It was him nicking the ball and feeding Coburn that created the first goal. However it was inevitable that he was going to get suspended soon so we were always going to have him missing a match soon.

I think Rogers could comfortably cover if anything were to happen to Howson or Barlaser but I'm hoping to see one of the young players on the bench to hopefully get a few minutes. Maybe Cartwright if we're trying to persuade him to sign a deal when he's eligible in a few months.

agreed, I think Hackney, Coburn, even Jones could do with a week off to recuperate. Hackneys barely missed a minute in a year, playing international U21 when everyone else has had a rest. Josh is playing lone striker role at 20 and looks like he's feeling it. Jones has had a good run in the side after a long time on the side lines, looked out on his feet last 10.

Greenwood is another that isn't used to playing 90 Sat-Tue-Sat.

We need to manage the squad until the next international break and be careful not to get more injuries through overplaying.

True. I thought he looked tired in the second half and wasn't pressing/tracking back as much so probably will do him good. In fact a lot of the team looked a bit tired before the substitutions (Greenwood, Howsen, Coburn) and Norwich took the initiative. Crooks was a machine though and was still haring about at the end. Team kept a good defensive shape overall though so managed to keep Norwich at arm's length in general.

We've an absolute wealth of options at centreback if we need to move paddy forward. Lenihan, RVB and Clark. Even djiksteel at a push.

We probably would but I think Rogers is probably the closest match to Hackney in terms of technical ability and physical attributes from the available subs.
