Hackney red card why no thread

I haven't seen it back but the first booking seemed a bit harsh to me. It was a foul but at the time I didn't think it was a booking. Second one looked a bit reckless as he seemed to completely leave the ground and had his studs up. I'd need to watch them back though as I'm only going on the one time live view.

Couldn't see why he was arguing myself 2 stupid tackles both after giving the ball away
Flip side how good was howson
Because it would end up being a jump on thread with people saying stuff about a young local lad that isn`t needed

He`ll know he did wrong, he doesn`t need a thread on here giving him pelters to confirm that

You need to see it back mate. Both justified yellows for me but the first isn’t even up for debate.

He dives in every game. Gets booked early. He needs to wise up.

Ref ruined the game, not the result. We’re cack
They can’t both be to blame.

If you think Hackney dives in every game, gets booked early, and this time did it again a little bit too obviously, which you appear to be suggesting with your first paragraph, then he ruined the game. If you think he was a victim of a shocking miscarriage of justice after making a well judged and well executed tackle then the ref did. But they can’t both be true.

In my opinion both yellows, but at the same time both needless and probably born out of frustration from giving the ball away. In both instances the defenders on the pitch should have been able to cover without the need for Hackney to be cynical (the shirt pull for the first one) or reckless (the second).

Yeah Hackney lost his head because he'd already given the ball away a few times, that's why he dived in because he was despetate to win the ball back.

It wasn't a situation where he needed to desperately dive in like that though. There was no immediate threat.

Normally, after giving an early yellow card, most referees calm the player down with a warning for a second tackle. This one couldn’t wait to get his red card out.
I’d say it often depends on how close they are together. If he had done a marginal second yellow early in the second half, he might well have got a warning. You could argue one of the Coventry players did exactly that and was treated leniently (which is in itself a bit unusual as most referees when there’s been a sending off do take the chance to level up). But Hackney’s were less than 10 minutes apart and a lot of referees would see that as taking the ****.

I think we are clutching at straws if we see this red as harsh. We can certainly argue they might have had one. And we should have had a second. But plenty of refs would see Hackney’s as a yellow.

First was soft for the first tackle in the game.

Second one gave the referee a reason to book him again.

If those two tackles were bad enough for 2 yellows, then why wasn’t Radoni sent off in the second half? It was a late and high tackle - that’s the frustration with the referee. Total BS.

3 times this season I have witnessed players cynically foul our players at home when on a booking. Zero red cards.

The officiating in this division is *****!

I thought that was the worst performance by a referee that I can remember bordering on incompetent. I thought there would be a separate thread about it tonight.

Interesting that some on here saying the second card was justified. I’ve only seen it in real time, from half way up block and it seemed as if HH won the ball. That was the common view around us. The red was awful, yet again, but the one bright spot was the quality of Howson in the ball. Easy with hindsight, of course, but Hackney needed a rest and Howson was clearly fit, so why did Carrick select Hackney?
