Hackney and the rest of midfield

Never a premier league player and he seriously needs to have a good look at himself tonight, watching him in warm up, he was just strolling around, he couldn't hit a barn door shooting at the keepers. It is clear the hype has gone to his head.

Barlaser needs a rocket up his **** also and needs to start getting stuck in too!!!

As for O'Brian send him back to forest.

Hackney was a lot better when Carrick put him back into midfield in the second half but I agree he needs to wake up a bit.

I honestly think we are too soft. Not one of those midfielders would be willing to go in hard on anyone.

Hackney in the front three is a total waste. He needs to be in his position. He’s still learning it, he isn’t in the position to be moved about.

His passing in the first half was embarrassingly bad. He cost us today.

We play such slow football. All our possession is played with multiple touches. We never move it quickly. Teams must love playing against us currently.

Hackney hasn't suddenly become poor but has been half the player since his injury. Just slightly in his defence he must wonder what Carrick will have him doing next. Started pushed forward again by Carrick who along with the rest of us saw it not working in the last match. He seems devoid of confidence recently, often losing possesion cheaply when he'd previously have monstered tacklers. His passing has deteriorated at the same time. Given that Barlaser needs to be binned more urgently and Howson is now being rested it seems he is undroppable regardless of form.

All 3 were really poor today
Hackney needs putting back into his normal position in my opinion

Hackney is 20 years old and is outstanding in his true position which is in the middle two. He is then facing forward picking out runners or running forwards breaking the lines. In the first half today, with Bristol playing a high line and compressing the play, Hackney mainly played facing backwards trying to receive the ball in tight areas with nobody running past him. It didn’t work.
