Guess which area in the UK has the most lockdown rule breakers?

be interesting how many “total users”of this app there are in middlesbrough.

It was in the Gazette article. 750000 users - no mention of active/ inactive users. A grand total of 26700 responded which is approximately 0.0004% of the UK population.
As a survey for justifying these headlines I'd say it's not worth the paper it's written on. Middlesbrough's 25 % might be 1 person out of 4 who responded here.

Only 29,000 respondent's.
Read the disclaimer and you see that they say the map is a truer reflection in some places than in others. Without including the numbers of respondents in each area it needs to be taken with a medically prescribed dose of salt.
Or chucked in the bin rather than being used for writing national headlines.

To be fair, a lot of the replies to that article on the mail website have been very supportive of Middlesbrough, with people pointing out some facts that may be skewing the stats - something the author conveniently never bothered reporting on.

"Maybe it's the 4000 volunteers in Middlesbrough who volunteered within two days of the appeal from James Cook Hospital to go and help in any way they can or the hundreds who are cooking and delivering food to vulnerable and high risk people , people in Middlesbrough care and are ready to help unlike most self entitled selfish southerners"

Massive number of key workers and industry in Middlesbrough. Lots of petrochemicals and pharmaceutical manufacturers. I know a number of people having to go out to work even though they don't particularly want to. For the most part the streets are deserted."

"Absolute rubbish, Stockton, Thornaby and Middlesbrough are like ghost towns. Stop making stuff up based on pre conceived ideas."

"I work in Middlesbrough. It has two large hospitals and multiple factories. The factories produce food and other key items. If my colleagues and I don't go out to work the people who are staying inside wouldn't have food on their table. Another local firm makes cables which are being used in the newly built hospitals. Please educate yourselves before assuming that people are "flouting" the rules."

"I live in Middlesbrough. I don't see anyone flouting the rules. Everyone i see is keeping their distance!"

Ryedale has the least apparently. It may have something to do with there being nowhere to go without sticking out like a sore thumb. I used to get odd looks off people for walking around Helmsley after 8pm.

I don't need an App or even a poll to know that one of my neighbours (in N Yorks) have just treated this "lock down" as if it did not apply to them. No manipulation of figures necessary, I don't think this COVID-19 has affected them one jot.
It bloody well will if they catch it.
