It means there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute, it doesn't mean he didn't do what he was accused of.100% is. There isn't any evidence that he did it otherwise he'd be going to trial.
Mason Greenwood attempted rape charges droppedThe Manchester United footballer says he is "relieved" after charges were discontinued by prosecutors.www.bbc.co.uk
No evidence? Are you for real?Innocent of all charges, all been dropped. Absolutely horrendous that people can be dragged into the spotlight without any evidence. Should be blanket reporting ban until guilty.
A disgusting human who should never kick a football again. Should be behind barsHe's still a terrible human.
that is the consensus in our office. that or "he couldn't be guaranteed a fair trial" due to the major evidence coming out right at the startI do hope he hasn't just paid her off.
"the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction."So on what grounds dropped? I do hope he hasn't just paid her off.
What video Baron? The video that was posted to Twitter was pretty damning. Its more a lack of solid evidence to prosecute. I don't think there is much doubt among the public he behaved like a wrong 'un in this instance.
If so, I would guess her dad had something to do with it then."the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction."
Could well be that he did pay them off.
Apparently, he doesn't sweat or eat pizza. So on what grounds dropped? I do hope he hasn't just paid her off.
All true, but I am still not comfortable with just assuming all those accused are guilty either.Only a tiny % of rape cases end up being prosecuted, something like 1.5%. That's of reported cases as well. There are many more that aren't even reported. Things usually happen in private so there are no witnesses and so most cases boil down to he said she said which isn't enough to convict on. Not going to court because there isn't enough evidence isn't the same as innocent.
As a comparison, how many known criminals are there that the police can't touch because they don't have any evidence to convict them? They know who all the major players are in the gangs but it can take years before they get them doing something they can be prosecuted for.
